nice
"+ MIDI editor: less eager to show empty space to the left of the MIDI item"
...maybe i was more annoyed by this than i should have been, but thank you.
"+ Project RPP files can now be inserted as media items (PiPs) (very preliminary)"
...this sounds very interesting
great update.

Less eager? It's a start, but it'd be nice if this would be COMPLETELY disabled!

Cpu for the V-station is now lower in 64bit than in 32bit.
Take me to the bridge!
Haven't looked at all the other stuff yet.

Thank you Cockos, for another glorious update!
On my system, the VST bridge is leaps and bounds ahead of the previous offering; now it almost feels native. Good job.
Looking forward to trying out the other features too.

True that, but I'm still allowed to scroll past the item's start point into empty space. I shouldn't be allowed to do that in ANY piano roll out there
Anyways, the eagerness is cool! This only means that the will to jump into empty space will dissapear with time!
Also, Virtual MIDI Keyboard is now down to 129 (!) keys, and key number 127 doesn't function! (Quick correction before actual release, devs?)
FINALLY I CAN EDIT ONLY SELECTED VELOCITIES! Thank you, Cockos!

Freehand automation drawing is fun! It even works in the master tempo lane, although it’s still a little clunky there, for obvious reafactoring reasons.

this made me use swear words.
very very cool.
PiP seems - how do they say - "off the chain" - wild... DOWN BOY!
draw automation seems like its always been there, lovely.
arm toolbar actions seems v.interesting and hope to use relative snap soon.
the hints/tip thing i hope will yield useful info.
YUM. thanks for listening and also for not listening and coming up with crazy shit.

thank you for this massive update!
Realtime Reverse of all kinds of media is just as huge, as PiPs.
(for me at least.)
i can only hope that one day PiPs will have more '.reaparts'-like features, but until then having these ghosted "containers" are definitely something very, very helpful in my workflow.

Thanks for a very good update! PiPs are gonna be Grand when developed further, to more resemble some of the originally proposed concepts. It's a very good start already though.

The "run 32-bit VSTs" option..
..is this only valid for the 64 bit version wrapper or can this be used to allow us to have buggy plugins unable to take down reaper if they crash (as it implies)?
also is the default "Natively" exactly what we are use to?

cool!
without me extensively testing it yet, any comments on how much more processing it might take or any tips you can give?
So, if a plug in crashes what happens? does it just disappear?
I must say, your innovation is astounding!!!
This update has "blown my socks off" and it's not even out of beta yet!

It takes a little more CPU, but adds latency (so you might have to go up a bit in asio latency etc)..
If a plugin crashes, REAPER will likely hang for about 5s, then come back to life, and you can offline/online the relevant plugins. If a plugin that is running "separate" crashes, you'll need to offline/online all "separate" plugins.. If a plugin crashes a lot, probably good to give it a dedicated process.

Absolutely teeth-gnashing, desperate, short-term PIP FRs:
- option so that when PIPs are inserted, they have same tempo as current project
- action to "convert current item/track selection to pip", though I understand this is a tricky one
e.g., could be accompanied by "copy current .. to pip"; presumably "convert" would create a pip with the required bits, remove them from the current project, and put the pip in the right place in time. This is mildly analogous to Cubase's "convert audio items to part" action.

So will you still have all your plugin parameters after it crashes and you offline/online it, or will it restart with default settings?
Am I right that:
64 bit plugins in 64 bit reaper only open natively (no separate or dedicated process)
We can't use 64 bit plugins with 32 bit Reaper

is it possible to get the CPU/RAM use meter, and the time since last save counter, as different options in the info display under TCP?
kind of annoying having that last save ticker ticking away all the time, personally anyway, i don't know how anybody else feels.
i love the cpu/ram meter, but would just love to have it by itself.
many thanks, keep up the fantasic work.
lou.
