Default 32bit Reaper files compatible with 64bit Reaper?

Hi. A friend and I want to start emailing each other tracks recorded with Reaper, so we can add bass and guitar tracks to each others' songs and send them to and fro for changes etc.

Thing is, I'm using the 64bit Windows version of Reaper and he has 32bit operating systems on each of his computers, one a PC and the other a Mac.

Just wondering if anyone could advise:

1. whether his 32bit Reaper files will be compatible on my PC;

2. will my 64bit Reaper files be readable and workable on either or both of his computers;

3. Is there likely to be any compatibility issues if he's using a Mac version of Reaper while I'm using a PC version?

Cheers
Issy

Yes.

REAPER's files have nothing to do with 32bit or 64bit computing.

Thanks cyrano.

What about Mac and PC versions of Reaper - are Reaper files created with either compatible on both Macs and PCs?

They're compatible, but you have to take care to transfer the media files too. A REAPER project doesn't store the media in the .rpp file, but in the folder designated in the prefs.

And you also have to see if you have the same plugins on both machines, of course. So fi mailing back and forth projects takes a little planning.

Thanks for your enlightening responses, cyrano.

I have the .rpp files corresponding to projects I'm currently working on, so that part's clear. Excuse my ignorance, but I'm unsure what a media file is, or where to find it. And when I do, will it be clear which media file corresponds to which .rpp file?

If this is getting tedious, no probs - appreciate your help, whatever. I've done a bit of googling and this page looks like something I need to investigate: http://reaperblog.net/2013/07/reaper...le-management/

Cheers!

The media files are simply the wav and midi files you recorded, or added to the project...

For the future, if you set the file "save-as" options to "create project folder" and then "move all media to project folder" you can just save the whole project folder and everything - apart of course from any external plugins you used - will be in place when you open the project elsewhere.
Quoting the save options from memory as I dont have reaper available on this computer.
