Default display midi hardware current cc settings?

Hello all,

I have a line 6 DT50 amp, which responds to approx. 30 cc commands. I am using Reaper's MIDI editor to set each cc parameter, creating, saving and recalling an overall "sound" on the amp. I will repeat this process, changing the cc parameters, to create additional "sounds" on the amp.

My process is, I create a MIDI track containing a short, recorded item in Reaper, then use the MIDI editor to access its cc values. This works pretty well, and can of course be saved in Reaper (the amp itself cannot save sound configurations without the purchase of additional line 6 hardware).

But the whole process is tedious. One thing I wonder: Is there a way for Reaper to "see" the current values of each of the 30 CC commands in use by the amp? It would be great to obtain a snapshot of current amp settings, then set about manipulating the data for new amp sounds rather than always input, input data into Reaper from scratch.

Thanks,
Lance

possibly if you look in the line 6 manual and find the sysex command that requests the amp to send current settings or send a sysex dump of them

Thanks for the reply, mate! Sysex- there's something I've never known anything about. But after reading your response, I did search- and it appears it wasn't possible when this poster asked the same Q in 2013:

So I gather there's no 3rd party software ie: Reaper that can extract MIDI hardware settings. Dang.

That's a shame, without sysex info it will be very hard to get the info sent from the amp, however this may help you rather than trying to guess what cc messages you need to control the amp at least

Okay, so I already had the Line 6 DT50 Midi implementation chart- I've been using that to manually input data into Reaper's Midi editor.

As for Midi OX- I downloaded the program and am trying to perform a Sys Ex dump, but no luck. Nothing happens, even though Midi Ox Does seem to have a connection with the DT50 amp.

I noticed your Line 6 link is for a page about M5/M9/M13. Are you sure DT50 supports Sys Ex? I've searched, but haven't been able to confirm this. And like I said- I can't get anything started as far as a Sys Ex transfer.
