Prism makes the best AD & DA converters.
Reaper is one of (not the only, but one of) the top sound quality mix engines (ie 64bit fp).
Simple as that.

Those of us who can't afford Prism usually turn to Apogee.

Default Orpheus and Reaper on OSX

Hi .
I'm using 3 orpheus and Reaper on Mac, Osx.
When it's works well, it's fantastic.
Better sound i ever heard, and better than anything i know.
BUT, i have to admit that i have troubles. A LOT.
It happen very often, few times by hour, that reaper loose the communication with the orpheus.
And sometimes also, loosing the clock.
When it's happening, i need to go and the Divice pref of reaper and select again the orpheus hardware.
And sometimes it's not enough.
I also noticed that the troubles are woth with altiverb plugin.
Almost everytime i load a new song, i loose the comunication between Reaper and the orpheus...
I loose a lot of time with that problem.

Is anyone, using that system and knows how to fix it ?

But when it works well, this configuration is a dream.
24 tracks converted by Prism Orpheus with 12 wonderful preamps...

I compared 4-5 of the best converters and I liked Mytek best so I bought Mytek Stereo 96 DAC .
It improved the sound from my Motu interface enormously .
So the next thing to save money for is the Mytek Stereo 96 ADC .
