Default Remapping MIDI banks and voices

I've got a Casio keyboard connected to Reaper with no issues.
MIDI in and out. Audio is working fine.
I understand the reabank files and can send control changes.

However, I cannot find an easy way to organize the various voices in Reaper.
In the keyboard, all piano sounds are in one group, guitars in another, etc.
But the MIDI banks are all over the place.
Bank 0 is GM. No problem.
But every other MIDI bank is a mix of piano, brass, and everything else.
Auditioning, say, bass sounds is a nightmare of spreadsheets and clicking.

Am I missing something or am I at the mercy of Casio's voice mapping?
I can edit the reabank file to accurately reflect my keyboard.
Is there a way to let Reaper know how I'd like the voices to be grouped?

Hi and welcome to the forum!
It would be good to know which Casio you have.

You can go to the stash, there are a lot of reabank files uploaded, maybe you can use one of them for comparison or as a starting point.

And you can go here http://www.djemberecords.com/reaper and download the "Art_of_Reabanks.pdf" from there. A cool guy named Joel Sampson made that, a well explained "HowToReabank" .

Hope that helps!

The Reabank files are not the issues.
I can get everything to function just fine.

But the native voice are grouped internally by instrument.
Piano, E Piano, Organ, Guitar, etc

While the MIDI banks contain voices scattered throughout those native groups.
There's no rhyme or reason to it.
Bank 1 will have a few piano voices, a few synths, on and on.
It's very cumbersome to navigate from Reaper.
I'd have to scour through 7 different banks just to sample the bass voices.

Is this just the way it is?

I did a short test with my reabank of my hardwaresynth. I sorted the sounds the way I wanted, let's say sound#5 at first place in the reabank, sound#10 second, sound#20 third and so on.
They indeed appear then in the order I've chosen, so you too can sort yours to your needs.
The only thing to care about in the text editor is the number at the beginning of the line cause that's the program change number (and the bank of course) but I'm shure you knew this already. So you can try to sort at least the instruments within a bank.

I'm not shure if that's what you are looking for exactly, a quick look at the manual appendix of your Casio showed A LOT of sounds!
