It's starting to itch...
I really crave for a new musician-pacifier named 'Beta' from the Reaper team. Any time soon?

If you pick at it, it will never heal.
But I doubt we'll go right from alpha 1 into beta.

I don't know, we had only one alpha release during the month of January, so that leads me to believe that a big beta1 release is going to be next. I mean we have been in pre-alpha/alpha stage for nearly 3 months now, it is probably best to at least start the "official" beta process or we will never get v3.0 released.
Cheers,
Billy Buck

while I check LOL several times an hour, every day. I am in not hurry to jump into the betas... this feature set just keeps getting better the longer it sits in (a very usable) alpha status.
and I still pine for groove extraction and quantize.
and I still long to see this addressed in a meaningful way: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=245963
and several other things.
What's the August Rush?
I am enjoying this ride.

nah. long waits with developers this talented can only mean one thing: big architectural changes. they've probably had to gut and rewrite some core system to support some feature request. there's no way the next release will be a beta.

I'm definitely feeling the itch. I have a feeling this will be a big update.
It would be great if they are trying to sneak a few more of the most requested things for 3.0....

you guys are ridiculous.
(checks LOL)
most of the major DAWs are a year in between updates that (checks again) address even minor issues
(tries to come to grips with things added in 2.3 version)
while ignoring major bugs.
(remembers ReaBin. searches forum)
(ooh. nice skin.)
if you spent half as much time (checks LOL) working as you did complaining on the forums (ooh. when was that added?) you'd be rich by now.
(searches for Xenakios extensions. head explodes.)
(checks LOL)

Yes, I'm confident this one will have my long awaited "Make my mix sound the way I want it to" button.

Give your F5 button a break! Use this!
(Not that it would keep me from checking LOL once a day manually... I mean, you can never know, can you?)

I think we all got too spoilt with the speed that the 2.x releases came down the wire.
And checking lol usually happens for me just before the new release gets posted and then I find it a day or two later.
I see cubase 5 is now out, what 18 months - 2 years since 4. So yeah we are very spoilt

Yeah we're spoiled by Cockos for sure. The last Cubase update 4.5 actually was Sept 2008 though, 5 months ago.
A lifetime on the Cockos release calendar.

well yes we do have a groove extraction sort of workaround...
dynamic split... create midi file, but we have no efficient way of applying that groove to other midi/audio within the project.

That's actually the reason for the delay in getting another alpha out the door - Andy Sneap won't sit still and let them take his brain out to be digitized.

Do it like I do - install it on every computer you happen to have contact with during the day (10 - 20 machines in my case).
Oh, and there's a bash script running every hour that does the same - checking for updates on LOL. But other than the FF AddOn, if changes occur, they'll be SMSed to my mobile instantly.
And to everybody who calls me a nerd now: Shut the fuck up and keep pressing F5.

Only if you press F5. Or Ctrl-R. Then maybe.
Or try this 1994 classic: http://www.pixelscapes.com/spatulacity/button.htm
