I'm near certain the answer to these two questions is No, so I I'm positing it here in the nitpicks forum instead of out among more polite company. (EDIT: Actually, I posted it out here anyway. User error.)
1) Is it possible to have the state of an item's inline editor be retained between project loads?
2) Is it possible to either adjust the zoom level of multiple items at once, or otherwise have the zoom levels of multiple items align with each other.
