There was an issue when considering Tapatalk:

I'd still like a dedicated mobile forum app, though I get here pretty OK on the iPhone using Atomic or Perfect.

What does Tapatalk do for your phone that the browser doesn't? Why not just use the browser?

Sometimes forums don't look right and are harder to navigate on a mobile screen. Tapatalk works on tons of different OS for smart phones and meant to be viewed on a smart phones.

+1 on a mobile version of the forum. Trying to precisely click on the link to page 2 or 3 with your finger on a phone screen using regular browser requires extreme zoom in.
I sometimes read reddit and XDA on my Android phone and they both have very nice apps that format the forum for small screens. I would love to check this forum from time to time while away from home.

Not every mobile device is iOS though. Its just mobile platforms in general and some don't allow 3rd party browsers.

The main forum I frequent ( www.ferrarichat.com) is on Tapatalk and works
great there - also vBulletin based. Just gives you the basics, sized to fit
the phone screen - no zooming like using a browser. I use it all the time there.
Would be cool to have Reaper on Tapatalk as well.

Yes tapatalk support would be great. I use it often for other forums and it would be nice to have reaper also in the tapatalk list.

Ill say one thing I run a fairly large forum and I had it set up for tapatalk and after not very long disabled it. The load it put on the mysql server was crazy.

It's free on android at the moment. So it should not show ads I guess.

I'll add another voice to the clamour for Tapatalk. Although, seeing as this thread has been going for about four years with nothing doing, I'm not holding out hope.

that all has nothing to do with apps.
this forum - like any other forum too - is technically a website, and websites are written in HTML.
and as any website the presentation depends on the way of programming. this forum/website is not fully responsive, means, it doesnt fit itself to the screen it is seen on.
so that forum shouldnt be made fitting to tapatalk (or whatever, I have no clue of these "apps"), it cant be, a website is made for watching, and not for a special "app" or screen or browser.
a website has to be responsive (Google will push down any not responsive websites from the 20.April 2015 on) so it can be seen on any screen in a comfortable way.
unfortunately to do that, the framework for the cockos websites must change to a grid-based bootstrap framework. that is with this forum not doable.
the solution is: to read this forum properly, get yourself a decent browser and dont use apps. apps are hype and bullshit and they are there to take your money away. a website can be watched in every decent browser. so its mainly the fault of your "apps" or mobiles or your browsers on the mobiles if it is hard to read.

Apps are just applications, e.g., specific pieces of software. If the developer chose to make, and, more importantly, the consumer chose to buy, a piece of software that doesn't benefit that consumer, it is not a problem because what he bought was an app, it is a problem because the developer and, especially the consumer, made poor decisions.

cmon ... you know what I mean. I mean that fancy apps, that apple-invented-bullshit.
an app for a forum is completely nonsense. a forum is a forum, a website, as said and is created to be looked at in a browser. if yomeone comes round the corner and calls a thing that can show a forum an app then he is an ... go figure. I mean the companies, that sell these apps. not the OP.
the problem is that this forum is not responsive, means, it doesnt adjust to the screen and the resolution it is read on. so you dont have to make a website fitting for an app but making a website fitting for all kinds of screens, resolutions and devices.
that is done by making the website and the forum able to be run within a bootstrap-framework. unfortunately that would mean, that website programmers had to do a lot of work and reprogram and relaunch all Cockos-related websites to make them responsive. then the website would be shown on all devices in a different but correct way.
this costs money and most website-programmers all over the world will tell you that you need 3 different websites running in parallel and charge you three times the money for doing so. (why? because most of them dont know how to make a really responive webdesign.)
anyway, it will cost a lot of money.
and the forum-software would have to be rewritten, because it is not doable to make that responsive. vBulletin 3.8.4 is the actual version and vBulletin will not be made responsive.
we are talking here 5-6 figures in $ for doing that all. and I dont think Cockos would do that and pay that.
so: get yourself a decent browser and use that to read the forum on your mobiles.

yes.
but I dont know what that has to do with it?
the forum cant be made responsive. period. the software isnt able to do that. the forum is programmed with tables and you cant make tables responsive. have a look at the source code. its not doable.
the other thing is, that websites are not made for apps or browsers. apps or browsers are made for reading websites. and if an app or a device isnt able to make you read a website, then that is so. its the apps fault, maybe the app was designed for anything thats appropriate, but this forum doesnt fit for that app. you cant make music with Libre Office. so ...
its like you have a car and complain about it because it cant wash your clothes. its not designed to do that. you have to live with it and get a washing machine. or dont wash your clothes.
and I really dont know what that is, that everybody demands to be able to read any website on a stamp-wide screen ...

app = application = program = computer program = executable
all synonyms
The smartphones and tablets run a very watered down OS. It's all about putting a governor on the thing to preserve battery life and keep it from melting due to heat. Said OS doesn't include what you are used to as 'basic OS functionality'. At all.
Hence phone/tablet apps are self contained things. It looks extremely silly to have a specific app for a specific webpage when "you should just use a standard browser and build on that". But that's where these devices are at and this is what they do to be efficient. Think of phones/tablets/iThings more like calculators and remote controls than computers.
An iPad SHOULD have the horsepower of say, a G4, but the battery would only last 10 minutes and the thing would melt if you tried to run it like that.

No one is demanding this. Internet browsing on a phone or tablet is a VERY 2nd class experience. Truly awful if you are used to a computer. But computers are expensive and these devices are cheap. So now you can get internet access without having to buy a full blown computer. Any internet access (even if slow and poor) is better than none if you can't afford/justify a computer. Simple as that.

seems not to be that simple, if people demand a forum-website to be made fitting onto a stamp-wide screen. as I pointed out - this isnt my case at all, why do I even explain it? - the forum software (vBulletin) relies on tables (which is HTML-thing, a technicality) and vBulletin cant be made responsive. its technically impossible, the software cant be changed that way.
that is simple ...
so the demand should be to Cockos to get a new forum-software, install it and migrate all the data over to the new one. and that without any flaw please.

Old thread, but still relevant I believe...
I've tried few forum apps but they're not compatible with cockos forums.
Tapatalk seems to be the only game in town.
