Drums are usually on midi channel 10. So open it in reapers midi editor, select all notes and set them to channel 10 and export that file.

new problem!
Apparently when I created the tracks..I did it in sections.. intro, verses, breaks, solo...etc. I have about 20 sections..I've "connected" them all to 1 single track however they are still in sections when I click on them.
How do I "merge" and save them as a single piece..? if you know what I mean.

If the MIDI items are on separate tracks, then gluing is not an option.

There's nothing on that track except MIDI inputs from other tracks, right?
On that 'merge' track, right click the record arm button and select 'Record output (MIDI)'. Then arm the track, and hit record.

1 step at a time! lol
- ok - so I was able to glue them, was so simple.
- problem saving/exporting as .mid. I did it in 2 ways:
1- In midi editor I made the entire track = channel 10; I chose FILE>EXPORT TO NEW MIDI FILE. I later played the file on WMA and again still got the piano sounds.
2- From the main panel I chose FILE>EXPORT PROJECT MIDI. Again I played the file in WMA and again still getting the piano sounds.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here?

The Microsoft wavetable synthesizer (as used by Windows Media Player) is perfectly capable of playing any of its instruments on channel 10, if you tell it to....
I think it might help you to download Anvil Studio (it's free), which uses the Microsoft synth (it is available as an output in REAPER, but I've never had much luck with that), import the MIDI, set the right instruments to the right channels, and export as a MIDI-Format 0 file (whatever that means). I think the result will play in WMP as expected.
Or, post your MIDI file here, and I'll do it for you.

I connected all the sections to a single track.

When I double click the track opens up in midi editor, at the bottom right drop down I choose channel 10.
I've attached 2files.

Ok, I've downloaded those, and I'll take a look.
The full version of MT PowerDrumKit2 is now free, by the way.

Anvil showed Acoustic grand piano, channel 1, default tempo.
The file below is drums, channel 10, 87.75 BPM (RPP tempo)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3zaaih4enr...ANVIL.MID?dl=0
I haven't played the whole thing, but I did open it in WMP, and it sounds about right.

That just shows you what's on channel 10. Have a look at 'View > Mode: event list' in the MIDI editor; all events are on channel 1.
You can change the channel there, or cut them and paste the notes from channel 1 to channel 10 in the piano roll.

I downloaded MT Power just a couple nights ago. Through out the recording I keep hearing "demo version".
I did not see a free full version on its site.

If the link I posted doesn't take you there, go to the page with the demo on, and click 'Buy'. You should see:

Now you can download the plugin for free: CLICK HERE

Fortunately, the VSTi is rather better organised than the website....

OK guys.. I'm confused.
Starting from scratch, here's what I'm doing
- I insert a new track, click on the FX to add the MT Drums.
- I select insert new midi item
- I double click and it goes to the piano roll to create the notes, drum parts.
Question - So where do I go to send all notes to channel 10?
I thought it was at the bottom right of the midi editor (piano roll).
Please have patience with me.. newbie and still learning

It is... you can write notes to channel 10 by doing that.
However, the notes in your project are on channel 1. Going to channel 10 doesn't move them.
Go to channel 1, select all notes, cut, go to channel 10, ensure the position is correct, and paste. Done.
Or just download the RPP I posted. I already put your notes on channel 10.

only to clear that up:
MIDI-Format 0 = all midi channels are on 1 track
MIDI-Format 1 = every midi channel has its own track
doesnt matter in the end, because you can explode Format 0 to Format 1 in every DAW.

This works, of course. However, if you instead use
Insert > Virtual instrument on new track
REAPER will offer to build several audio tracks for you along with the MT track. You can then assign different drums to different tracks in MT's mixer.
I'm not entirely sure that this will work for the demo version of MT drums.... but it probably will.

Is that the only difference? Thanks for that.... I'd often wondered.

Along the bottom of the midi editor you should see a drop down menu that says "All Channels" change that to read Channel 10 and you should be good

OK, there is something weird going on, i just made a groove in MT Power drums and draged it into reaper, opened the midi in the midi editor ctrl all to select all notes, changed the dropdown menu to 10 and had all the notes move to channel 1 same as what happened to you ?
Don't know whats going on there but heres how i fixed it.
1. Create your drum track in MTPD's.
2. Drag to Reaper to create midi track ( drums ) "Glue" if necessary.
3. Open new drum midi track in midi editor.
4. "ctrl all" to select all midi notes.
5. Right click ( on a midi note, you may have to zoom in ) / note channel/ set to 10
6. Save as new midi item
Now you should have a midi file with drums on channel 10
hth's
Cheers

I think that's what happened to me too! It played fine however when I exported AND save as midi (from midi editor) all I got was pianos when playing.
I went back and selected all, right click and changed the channel to 10.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll give this method a try on my next project.
