Default Automation with a Mouse

Is it possible to do effective automation with a mouse and no control surface? I managed to do it quite well in Pro Tools.

What do you mean by effective automation? Yes, you can draw a curve with mouse.

If you can give some examples or be more detailed, then you can get some better answers.

Reaper's automation system is a bit more complete than non-HD PT automation, and there's a lot of scripts that greatly surpass what you can do with PT.

It's just a matter of knowing what you need to do.

Thanks for your reply.

That's good to know. Yeah, sorry for not going into more detail, my time was limited yesterday, due to work.
What I wanted to know was whether or not it was possible to achieve the kind of detailed automation that one is able to do riding faders on a console with only a mouse?

I use Volume automation all the time I do this on the volume(prefx) track.

This gets rid of those nasty peaks, worrying peaks, annoying peaks and makes it all more comfortable for a compressor.

Yes. You can do much better (more precise and far more accurate) in fact.

Thanks Robert,

I asked that, as I was considering whether or not to purchase something like a Faderport. I'm so impressed with the editing and automation features of Reaper.
