C:\Windows\SysWOW64, Wow.

I've had them show up in their install folder but usually it's been the system32 folder. However, it's never been the SysWOW64 folder, heh heh, I've never even seen that one.

Glad you got it G-Sun.

he, he, thanks!

Maybe the installer has a line that says:
"Pick a random folder"

On the other side: This is really far from newbiefriendly.
If this is to be common, then the ReaScript help-text needs to be updated.

Bump to add that I had the same problem on XP x86 and I'm running Python 34. I had Reaper look in the Windows System 32 folder and forced it to use python34.dll and it now works.

I appreciate the tip!

Having similar problems here. I use Python 2.7.3, REAPER already found python27.dll, but still refuses to load .py files ("Extension not supported").

(Using 64-bit PC, 32-bit Portable REAPER)

Default Damn Python!!

Hi. Hope you can help... Last time i had to do nothing, installed python and works out of the box. But this time doesn't. I installed python 3.4.2 and found the python34.dll in SysWOW64, like G-sun. Change the preferences in reaper, and reaper says it´s ok, python34.dll installed. But if i try to load a python script, first, only can select .eel files, i have to put all files to load a .py, and then, when i run it says this: Can't open C:\Windows\SysWOW64\python34.dll
Extension not supported: "py"

Please help, i don´t know what to do!

Edit: Just installed 32 bit reaper, just for testing, and python worked out of the box. I don´t had to set any preferences, nothing. Reaper found the dll alone, without setting the paths, or force to use dll. So, the problem is with 64 bit reaper. WTF??

Edit 2:The funny thing is that in reaper 32, if i press in dll path, in prefs/reascript, tells me python34.dll is in System32. But there are no python dll´s there when i make a windows search!! The .dll is in Syswow64!! But, who knows why, python works in the 32 bit version. Then, in reaper 64, if i point the paths in preferences to the .dll in Syswow64, it tells me everything is ok, but don´t work at all!

Edit 3: Ok, sorted out, thanks to this thread: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...ight=python+64
The link in reaper to get python, leads to a 32 bits installer. And i am in running 64 bits reaper. It appears you have to chose python, not for the os version (x86-x64), and instead for the version of reaper you are running. Uninstalling the 32 bit python, and then installing the 64 bits one, make it all right. Now the 32 bit version of reaper do not recognize python. But i don´t care, im going to uninstall it. I assume if you want 32 and 64 bits reaper with python in the same machine, you had to install the two python versions.

I had the same problem; Python was recognised by Reaper, but scripts yielded only "Can't open file... Extension not supported: py".

Turns out I had installed the 32-bit version of Python (I am on 64-bit Reaper). I did not check whether or not I was installing the right version, because I figured they would automatically serve me the right installer. I had to go here to find the right version:
https://www.python.org/downloads/windows/

From there you click the "Latest release" near the top, and on that page you have the installer file marked with something like "-x64".

This would have been avoided if the 32-bit installer was clear on it being a 32-bit installer. Oh well!

I have installed python and it seems to be ok in preferences. When I try to run Toolbar Joiner it does'nt show py extension I have to show all files from drop down menu. After Python installed properly is it supposed to show py extension when loading scripts ?

Also no supported script files could be loaded..??

installed the python-3.3.3.msi then python-3.3.3.amd64.msi into the same folder and copied

c:\Windows\System32\python33.dll to c:\Python33\ (so into the x64 version folder)

now it's working, phew

HI people trying to install it, I have installed 64bit reaper/python.
I know where the dll "python39.dll" is "C:\Users\DSL\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python 39"

Reaper don't find it automatically, I put the path of the folder, but it don't work. I put the path of the dll, don't work.

Anyone have any suggestion, thanks!

EDIT
AHA managed to do it!

Needed to insert python39 in the use specific python dll
