Says that an ilok account/manager is necessary - Has anyone got experience of it? Is it a nightmare or a nice easy install? Easy to uninstall if it is a nightmare?

Just watched the videos - looks like an excellent bit of kit. Going to give the ilok process a go and see what happens...

Everything went super smooth with the installation and authorization. Sounds great and uses around 4% cpu on my core 2 duo E6600 with everything engaged. Fantastic giveaway

Ok, I created an account at ilok[dot]com, downloaded the manager, ran and rebooted. Where do I find the Access Code that is required on the Form?

I got it up and running and didn't have to plug in my ilok hardware.

This is awesome.

So if I don't actually own an iLok I can still get this plugin installed?

Yes, I created an account at iLok, downloaded the License Manager and filled in the Form! Run REAPER, Authorization pops up.

This thing is wonderful ... looks good and sounds great. Can't believe they're giving it away. Best purchase I made all day

A bit o trouble on the install, though ... on running Reaper the authorization window automatically popped up but I wasn't connected to the internet so I clicked the window off. The plugin didn't appear in the FX list. Closed Reaper, connected to the internet and ran Reaper again ... the auth window didn't pop up this time. Rebooted and tried again ... no go. Had to run the auth app manually to get it to appear in the FX list. Smooth sailing now

Hint: The order of the modules can be changed by dragging them horizontally while holding the left mouse button.

Hi Tommy... the User Manual for the install recommended getting the code and transferring the license using the iLok License Manager, then installing the SW.

I did it in that order and didn't have any problems in Reaper x64 on Windows 7 x64.

Hope you all enjoy it... this just appeared on various forums and Facebook pages today. I think Eventide are wanting more exposure in the DAW plugin arena so giving this away is a marketing strategy!

Either way... we win!

The best part about this is that they give you 2 authorizations and you don't have to use a dongle. Very generous of them considering it seems like a pretty quality plugin.

Got it today and am in absolute love. I have been wanting a strip for some time. I'd have gladly paid full price. After a few hours with it I can safely say that I can retire several plugs.

The damn iLok simply refuses to die. Give people a free plug and they will install about any crap on their machines (although, I must admit that the Sound Toys delay was very tempting). Same goes for various licence centers, managers etc...

Just sayin' .... Carry on ....

No physical dongle / USB stick, but you do get the PACE anti-piracy software installed, don't you?

Just go carefully. Many people have had no problems, others ...

Thanks jiff - they must have printed my email out and put it in an envelope and then put that in a bottle and dropped it off a pier

I'll duck down to the wharf and wait for a bit

Cheers

Ok, so I pretty much never have stability problems in Reaper. Decided to hit Clear cache/rescan plugins this morning and I get a hang at ultra channel.

Faulting module: wwf3D9E.tmp_unloaded

It didn't hang when I tried the rescan again. Anyone know what that means? I'm reluctant to commit to using it if it's going to blow up in my face at some future point.

Is the delay working correctly for you folks? I can't get the 'delay' dial to do anything. Moving the dial does not change the delay length - grabbing and moving the number underneath (which changes the value) does nothing too. This is with any combination of the tempo sync buttons turned on or off. Also, the 'bar' above each (left and right) section does nothing too - I guess you're meant to be able to select bar divisions as delay lengths but I can't even get the graphic to change.

EDIT: Yep the delay module seems to be buggy. Sometimes the delay length section works, sometimes it doesn't. Can't put my finger on anything other than randomness in it's operation.

EDIT: Selecting a delay preset seems to kick start it into operation but if you just load it up default it's hit and miss whether it works for me.

Not sure if the folks at iLok ever planed out their last round of software update issues. I wouldn't touch any more dongle/iLok products if you paid me.

I have mixed feelings about it. The only protection that works is no protection at all...so most of my plugins are either free, very cheap or have a simple keyfile.

At least with iLOK, I can install the plugins to any machine without using up activations. The amount of times I reinstall or change computers make activations a very worrying prospect.

This behaviour has been observed in Reaper by someone over at KVR btw.

Does your DAW computer have to be connected to the Internet in order to install or use this (mine is not)?

Thanks, but
crap is something that is useless. Is it useful for you?
Your argumentation is invalid if not.

So, actually people download this merely because it will cost 100+ eventually?
But maybe we even do not need such a tool.
What would we eventually need this for - could someone please elaborate on this?
Is it only for the saturation part, where you make a guitar sound distorted, or make a voice as if it comes from a telephone etc.?
For we have a lot of free plugs that do it without having a ilok manager installed.

As I read the manager can hang some of my plugs??? Potentially?
This means it slows down my comp, even before it hurts plugins ...
Is this correct or am I wrong?

It's a good plugin with a gate, two compressors, 5 band EQ, micro pitch shift and delay all in one place. I have tried it on a mix this morning with good result so I think for me it's a keeper. But everyone is different so it might not suit your style or work flow.
