Default Looped files going out of time ???

Hey guys, I have been using Reaper for a few days now and love its ease of use but have a problem. When I add a short looped wav file and continue it by dragging it for the duration I need it, I notice it starts to go out of time and I can see it not lining up with the graph bars. The further I go the worse it gets ?

I have used these loops in other programs with no problem, can someone help ?

How are you adding the loop to the project? Reaper doesn't automatically sync the loop to the tempo of the project, unless you add it from the Media Explorer with the "Tempo match on" option selected.

Alternatively, you can Alt+Drag the edges of the media item to match the correct number of grid bars before extending the loop.

Cheers,

Malcolm.

but if you do that drag and strech method, ... select the item and hit GLUE so it becomes a unique item ready to be looped as it has been altered.

Thanks guys, Yeah I tried your suggestion and it worked, I glued the looped file and then dragged it out the duration I needed it and it stayed right on time to the grid each time it looped!

Thanks for the help !

I am still havening no luck, I purchased the DVD for "don’t fear the reaper" and that doesn’t even show how to do what I want to do ?

I am running Windows 7 64 bit and Reaper 32 bit, I am using Reaper 32 because when I installed Reaper 64 It didn’t show my Addicted Drums VST only the 32 bit version showed my Addicted Drums.

Could this be causing some problems ?

As Arnar wrote http://forum.cockos.com/showpost.php...96&postcount=6 - you need to use the "Loop section of item source" function.

Example:

-> audio file with duration of 1 beat
-> now you could just drag it out but it won't stay in sync with the beat grid
-> rightclick the item and also enable "Loop section of item source" (make sure to resize the item to exactly 1 beat before)
-> drag out the item

=> now it will loop properly in sync with the beat grid forever ...

(in the Item Properties window you also can adjust the X-fade lenght in case you'll get some clicks at the loop boundaries)

If you get one that you can't fix like you have just chop the 1st one into a block. Then highlight it and press Ctrl+c and then line up the cursor on the track at the end of the chopped block and then repeat press Ctrl+v
