Hi Jeff-
It's actually 4.731 and it was posted yesterday. Not sure why it wasn't made a sticky, though...
Thanks-

I hope this is a false positive but when I tried to download the update I got a virus warning that the file contained an infection called "Win32:Trojan-gen". Just a heads up.

I hope you didn't pay for this program. I scanned both versions with 55 engines, and only a for me completely unknown anti-virus program called "CMC" finds the x86 version suspicious. So it's safe enough to use.

It is a false positive.
I've also noticed that, on my computer, Windows Explorer freezes when I try to run the installer immediately after downloading it. I suspect that my anti-virus (Windows Defender) somehow has a problem scanning it. This has been happening for several months now with every new version. I have to kill the task using Task Manager. On the second attempt, the installer works fine.

I get that strange behaviour too. Not a virus-warning, but the installer does not work. Starting the PC again fixes this.
It did not occur with every new version (I install them all).
It feels like this is the case since ca. 1/2 year.

Probably. Norton does that all the time here, quarantines a file when Insight determines that it's not been installed by any or many Norton users.

Don't suppose there are a lot of Norton users?

can't argue with that
the only virus checker I've ever seen to get it's own virus. Popularity doesn't just kill pop stars

Actually I did pay for it. My AV is Avast and it doesn't tend to report false positives much, which is why I thought it a legitimate concern. But I trust this program and the community so I will just go ahead and install the update.

That is kinda strange, because when I checked it, Avast was one of the 55 it was checked with and both Reaper exe files were clean according to Avast too! Maybe you should report that to Avast as false positive.

Not sure that it is a false positive. It's possible, but it's possible too that the problem were real. An involuntary issue can occur to everybody, even to Cockos, and it is always excusable, what would be inexcusable would be to not verify it and fix it. This new 4.731 installer is object of an alert also by my Avast professional edition with the mention Win32:Rootkit-Gen. Conclusion: if it's a false alert, it is although done by more than one antivirus. It is therefore a real problem.
For the 64-bit edition as well as for the 32-bit edition.
The previous releases didn't set up this alert.
A false alert is always possible, but it remains that a real issue can occur, therefore a comprehensive check of the installer should be done. In the meanwhile, impossible to download this release as long as the problem subsists.

You can be sure, this was definitely a 'false positive'.
Sure, bad things can really happen... but this wasn't one of them.

All you said is basically true. But I have scanned the installers with 4 very good scanners, and every one of them came up clean. Maybe your network is infected and attaching to your downloads....? I even downloaded multiple times, from multiple computers, even had a friend download from a different IP address....All were scanned and deemed clean.
Did you look into what Win32:Rootkit-Gen is and how it typically gets downloaded? It usually comes from sketchy websites and "freeware" sites. I can't believe a web/coder geek like Justin and cohorts would have an unsecured server.

Not sure if it's coincidence.... but when I updated to 4.731, my 32-bit bridging capabilities stopped. I.e. reaper doesn't recognize a plugin that needs to bridge anymore.. Please see my thread in compatibility for further details:

Thank you!
