yep this would be very useful!
currently you need to load the console 1 plugin then open it, then click on "manual name" then type the name and hen press OK.
This would be so much easier if you just loaded the plugin and the name got transferred from the channel.

Also (not sure if its softube or cockos that need to add this feature) it would be nice if you could select a channel on the hardware and it also highlighted the same track in the daw (and vice versa) you click a track on the daw and the console 1 channel is selected.

Id be happy to test or help relay to softube beta groups.

As I read ST announcements they clearly state that they don't do that. No control surface stuff.

But agree it would be cool.
Is there any standard for control surface stuff regarding this, or?
I mean you have to report your location to most controllers.

Did ST have their own implementation maybe, not using midi to communicate with their strips, or?

Their approach to directly position on a tracks strip with a button press is really good.

I looked at these Novation cheapo controller for Live, but not sure if you get ordinary midi in these. Just a matrix with enough buttons to get a track active.

Thinking of using an approach with project setup with 30 tracks or so, where the same track no do the same thing from project to project. Then it's soon in your backbone what to activate.

And you should be able to address a insert slot on the active track in Reaper, opening the plugin. I am to investigate that further - make your own strip of choice open with a button press.

The main underlying problem is Reaper's lack of MIDI parameter feedback, which has to be implemented by the Reaper folks afaics.
This is probably nothing that can be changed by 3rd parties ...
Take my BCR2000s as example, all there is for them is a basic MIDI driver.
Still, using Reaper's action system you can make the BCRs control almost any parameter in Reaper and plugins, they work exactly like Console One here, with my Duende plugs and all others.
One major thing is missing however:
Cubase or S1 go one step further, when you change a parameter via mouse, the LEDs on the controller update accordingly too - the LEDs always reflect the actual parameter value. This is called duplex mode or MIDI parameter feedback, and it is what Softube would need to write a proper Reaper driver.
I very much hope this will be implemented soon, it would benefit all controller users big time.

The Behringer BCR2000 control surface plugin previously available for Sonar users has now been ported to Reaper.

This plugin provides full duplex control of all key DAW functions, including

channel gain, pan, mute, solo
send gain and pan
transport control - play, pause, rewind, go to end, record
Navigation - previous/next measure, previous/next marker
Per-track record arm
Full scrub control with coarse and fine scrubbing
Full control of up to 7 insert FX per channel, with up to 120 parameters per FX. Each 'page' controls 24 parameters at a time, while still allowing access to the core track parameters (gain, mute, solo, record arm)
Coarse and fine parameter setting for any controlled parameter.
Track selection from control surface

Full console UI with electronic 'scribble strips' for each button and encoder, so you can see exactly what's controlling what

http://bcr2000control.sourceforge.net/

The Console

Because the BCR2000 is a low cost device, it has no electronic scribble strips. Therefore the plugin includes a visual console which mimics the control surface but also includes scribble strips showing you track and parameter information.

To display the console, press the shift key on the BCR2000 (not your computer keyboard) twice. If the console is visible, pressing the shift key twice will hide it. You can also close the console from your computer keyboard by pressing the ESC key.

nightscope,
thanks for pointing this out - so apparently it can be done, and Softube should be able to pull it off, too - especially since your info is public.
Great stuff !
---OT---
unfortunately it doesn't help me personally, as I'm not into menu based controllers myself. I've been successfully using a one-parameter-per-knob/button approach with the BCRs for years, scarily similar to Softube's concept , but not brand specific and fully customizable.
So I'm still hoping for native MIDI parameter feedback, it would fit Reaper's flexible action system like a glove !
(and the competition has it, too ...)

Full support is not released yet, are you familiar with the pre-release forum ?

We're not supposed to talk about anything outside of that forum, you might want to visit and have a look

I'm not 100% sure if i feel it right, but there isn't function "follow (reaper) track" integrated yet – but i believe it's gonna be soon :-) I've just ordered my C1 so i'm looking forward and try to be less pesimistic :-)

Ok, i've try to read everywhere here in the forum and that issue comes up. I'm also interested in Softube C1 but still not sure if i would want to order it... the idea behind it is genius and the workflow is more natural and faster imo.
