Surround plugin to further development
Dear Anomaly,
Congrats with your surround plugin, it works fantastic!!!
I would like to ask you if there is a possibility on developing further your stereo to 5.1 plugin supporting hexaphonic or octaphonic speaker setup.
Do you think, if possible,to create a custom speaker setup?
Greetings,
D

Thanks for your feedback. I guess it could be possible to support more channels, though such systems are quite rare in real life. I think the most realistic way to implement it would be "presets" for different setups.
I can't make any promises, but I'll think about it

Yes you are right.. It is not a common used setup... It refers more to the needs and possibilities of the electroaccoustic composing community. It will be great to have different setups and some control on the location of the speakers inside reaper.
I tried a session with all the spacial plugins available for reaper and yours seems the easiest and more efficient to use.
Thank you
D

Thanks for these plugins. I'm running Reaper 64-bit on Windows 7.
I put your plugins here:
C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)\InstallData\Effects
Nothing is showing up in my FX library. Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks for your comments.
5.1 Master Limiter updated again: Added channel monitor selector and limiter response control. Changed peak meter behavior.

Hi Anomaly, I'm enjoying your plugins. I found what might be a little bug in the 5.1 limiter. It seems that with all channels playing the front L/R balance is skewed somewhat to the left. I looked through the code but couldn't find anything suspicious, then again I can't quite read JS or dsp for that matter like a book.
My guess would be it was introduced by the new channel monitor section as when Front is selected the L/R level balance is restored.

Greetings,
Thank you for your feedback. This one seems a bit tricky. I tested it here, but couldn't reproduce it. Is there any specific way to make it happen?
My suggestion would be that please try it with a multichannel pink noise, so you see exactly what is happening to the audio levels. I have uploaded a test file HERE for you. In my system all reduction meters are even as well as output levels.

I've looked into it a little more and it's a very weird problem. Let me state right away that in a discrete channel situation (5.1 in and 5.1 out to monitor) everything works correctly with the limiter. I should have stated from the start that I was using Isone Surround, Ircam HEAR and the Reasurround 10-to-2 JSFX for monitoring this 5.1 mix. If that loses your interest because it's an outside case then I completely understand...
If not then read on and let's see where this rabbit hole might lead. The main reason I did not think those three monitoring plugins where a factor is because all 3 exhibit the exact same problem. Further if I have no limiter on the bus or the melda limiter in multichannel (7.1) mode everything works as expected. It's only with your 5.1 limiter that the problem happens.
To reproduce you just need to insert a tone generator on a track 6 channels wide, insert your surround panner, insert your 5.1 limiter, insert isone surround or reasurround 10-to-2 (both are free but Ircam HEAR costs money). Now simply pan the tone around and note that the Ls reports much louder than Rs when at a centered position. Turn off the 5.1 limiter and it goes away. My new surmise is the 5.1 limiter is introducing some sort of phase change that is causing all three of these binaural/matrix encoders to go funny. I'm sure this is a minimal problem for full 5.1 mixes but it may present issues if downmixing to dolby prologic 2 and the like.

Yup, there is a bug. But it's an easy fix. Just go the @block section of 5.1 Master Limiter. There you see a line:
pdc_bot_ch = 0; pdc_top_ch = 5;
change it to:
pdc_bot_ch = 0; pdc_top_ch = 6;
I'll fix this officially soon. Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention!

Greetings all,
Crimsonmerry has kindly made a new, great looking GUI for Bassprofessor. Also the code has been updated for lesser cpu usage. Please get the updated version from my homepage.

Wow! I didn't know JS plugins could have GUI's. Really nice, I hope to see more in the future.

Hmm, yeah. There seems to be extra "c". But the typo was in the original gui already. It really needed a gui like this before anyone notices
Crimsonmerry, is it possible to fix this?

They can, it's just hard as hell for us mere mortals to make one.
My biggest wish for V5 is GUIs for all the plugins.

Wow! Anomaly, you may have just revolutionized my Spoken Word FX chain with VOLA-EX-M.
I changed only 1 setting (Peak Target: -3.0). Then, I ran it on a raw track with no other FX.
The result was nearly ready for upload as a finished audiobook!
