Default n00b item pitch bend question

trying reaper again after a while and have gotten in over my head.
i have a single item i'd like to apply a pitch bend to on a track.
the track has lots of items, i just want to apply the bend within
the single item, though, as in: have the item start normal and
bend down over its duration.

could someone point me towards a walkthrough of how to do this?

btw, this is a purely editorial exercise. i have no midi gear like
a bend wheel. i need to be able to do this by editing curves or
keyframes or whatever.

thanks,
BabaG

reaper 3.75 for mac, btw

Try this:

Open the midi editor.

Select the note or notes.

In the lane below the piano roll, select Pitch

"Draw" in the Pitch lane with your left mouse button

If you need to isolate the part, cut and paste it to a new track before doing a pitch bend.

Is it a MIDI file or an audio file?

sorry. just realized that my keyboard didn't get all of the
info i typed in in the original post.

the item i want to apply a pitch bend to is a wav file. is
there a way to do this at the item level?

thanks for the tip, paradiddle. tried to open the midi editor
but couldn't. not at the computer with that project at the
moment so i tried creating a simple test: one track, one wav
item. couldn't open the midi editor. tried by control clicking
the item and going to 'open items in editor.' the sub-menu for
that had nothing about midi. i'm guessing this is because the
item is not midi?

fwiw, i'm trying to mimic a doppler effect using pitch bend
on a wav item.

thanks for any further guidance.

find the action : " Take : Toggle take pitch envelope"

you can set the pitch range in Properties / Envelopes

There's no take pitch envelope and so "bending" a single audio item is not possible in REAPER 3 (coming in v4). Avoiding this confusion is the entire reason why we restrict discussion/screenshots/etc. to the pre-release forums.

Hi

Id like to know how to draw lines and curves for editing pitch bend.
Need that for "realistic" guitar parts.
Im talking midi here (vsti) but same question for audio.
I only managed to get vertical pitch bars, but thats not good to bend notes.

Thanks

Is this true?

Will we finally have audio items with independent pitch bend in v4?

It is possible however to insert ReaPitch plug-in to a track,
and simply automate full range shift in semitones.

Not the same, but does a trick if done properly.

Yes thats great, but its not per item pitch bend per se, and also it seems to always preserve original duration, so its just changing pitch but at the samples same speed/tempo

Can it 'unlink' this so you can do a natural 'deck stop' type effect?

Nope it just bends the pitch, cannot slow down the stream.
