I dig it. Sounds cloudy - usually not a good thing but if it fits the song, then it is! It sounds like it's what you were going for, and it opens up beautifully for the guitar solos...

Thanks man. I started out with alot less reverb but it didn't fit.
I may have overdone it a little but I kind of prefer it really washy. Maybe I should even drop the vox back a bit......

Downloading mega prog delayed me getting here for awhile, gotta pay abbotts mates for the broadband even though the public already paid for most of it, I digress.

To me at first the snare sounded just a bit dry by comparison but soon it didn't seem to matter at all, another excellent mood piece that you do so well.

You nailed that 80's /90's pop sound for sure !!

This reminded me so much of The Church, i love The Church, well their early stuff anyway.

This tune really took me back, thanks for that

Cheers

the washy verb works perfect for this song, but I feel the overall mix has a thin blanket over it. like it's being held back from really jumping at me. some sort of unintentionally-subdued energy is being blocked. as for the intended style: nailed it!

I like it!

and yeah, the reverb on the vox works, but it also blankets the guitars..

How about a drastic cut in the lower frequencies of the vocals?

almost like a guy in a phone booth, but with tons of reverb on it...

that would leave a lot more room for the rest of the mix to breathe... IMHO

but I may be wrong

the guitar work is fantastic!

I can hear a bit of church for sure. I watched those guys live a few times in the early days before they got 'big in america', fuck they used to play so loud.

At times you are getting a sound reminiscent of Oxford guitar band 'Ride'.

I do know what you mean but I kinda intended to wash the guitars with the vox. I've also been known to over do things...

As always, I really like your style. Whether you go for something pop, rock, droney or otherwise, it has your sound to it. That is fantastic. I could tell one of your songs without knowing it is you now, not because they sound the same, but because you have this 'vibe' to your art.

There are opportunities for huge impact that aren't being taken, I think. For example, at 0:46 just to pick on the start of the song, I really want this section to explode, but it doesn't. It gets denser, but it doesn't jump out of my speakers like I want it to. At 1:33 it does increase in density, level and intensity but it is still not coming up to me and clocking me in the jaw like I want it to.

My mind keeps leaning towards upper mid content to get the mix to jump out a bit, but that flies a bit in the face of the underground/noise rock kind of sound you have going here. ...or does it? I dunno. Maybe you're sitting right in the frequency zone you want to be in to set the mood of the piece. What do you think?

Thanks man... really appreciate the comments.
That first part was actually supposed to be a bridge but it sort of turned into a chorus. I did hold it back some though because I liked the louder end section to jump out more.

It was really a case of swapping parts around and then just getting it done. I had a feeling if I was to play around with it too much, I'd ruin it.
I had it done in 5 days which is a record for me!

You're right though- there are plenty of mids and again, I just went with the feel rather than turning it into something different.
Thanks again, good observations!
