Default Recording Guitar Track With Plugins

This inquiry is based on JonnyGinese 'Vocals with Reverb | Direct Monitoring or Software Monitoring' tutorial. I've included a lot of info to hopefully get at the best answer. So here it is.

Computer: Acer Aspire 5517 Laptop

AMD Athlon Processor TF-36 2.00 GHz

RAM 2.00GB

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

HD Realtek - So Im using the Asio4All - Works out great.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

External Hard Drive:

Western Digital My Book 500GB

----------------------------------------------------------------------

DAW:

Reaper

Other DAW/Host:

SoundForge

Adobe Audition

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Virtual Drums:

Superior Drummer 2

Addictive Drums

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Other VST:

Waves Bundle

AVOX Antares Vocal ToolKit

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Amplitude Bundle:

Amplitude 2
Ampeg SVX

Guitar Rig 5

GTR

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Since I neither have any other hardware or budget to get other hardware I use an old Radio Shack SSM-50 mixer to get my Fender Telecaster sound to the audio input in my PC.

I do the same with my Shure SM57 Microphone as well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The objective of my question here is first to get some ideas on how to
turn 'Lemons into Lemonade'

But as far as step 1:

On my Guitar/Vocal Tracks, I would like to be able to use a basic Ampmodeler, Comp plugin, etc on the Track in Reaper to get the initial
track recorded as close to what Im looking for to be a little proactive.

From past recording experiences in Professional Studios and years ago on my first DAW I've learned the workflow is much smoother when you get the sound right going
in. Which requires less mixing and FX later. Ultimately I'll leave the Mastering to a Professional, which is a rule I've always stuck to because I value my music as much as I value my time. A lot.

As far as drums go Im just sticking to making a basic beat with Addictive Drums until I have the SD2 down. I used to lay down a drum track first but found limitations
in this process, quality wise, etc. Plus as a Singer/Guitarist/Bass Player I can create the music faster and come back later to get the 'Right' Drum sound for the song.

I know it's a lot of info but I figured the more you know about what I'm working with the more you may be able to help.

Just ready to get moving on my next CD project.

Thanks In Advance

If you want to record the fx with the guitar track use "input fx"

If you want to record it without the fx but hear them while your playing use "insert fx"
