Making Single left channel to stereo or right channel
Hey, I recorded a live gig, I got a live mic track down but only managed to get the left feed from the desk. everything was panned center so it shouldnt matter if I can figure out how to make this left channel recording play in stereo?? i tried and searched but I cant seem to render or glue the track in anyway that makes to left and right play equally?? help!!

In the item properties you can choose the "channel behaviour" – e.g. "Left is the mono signal". That should do it. There is also a stereo width "panner" included in the Reaper channel strips. Set it to 0% width, and everything becomes mono.

thanks for the reply, I tried both solutions but neither made a difference.. just to be clear I have audio only on the left channel, when I pan hard right there is no audio. I just want that left channel to come out equally through left and right.. a mono recording but coming out of both speakers. Any ideas??

Then something else is broken. This:
makes the left channel the only mono channel.

if you have a stereo file but with only the left chan with sounds and the right one muted, right clic on the item, item processing, explode multichannel audio etc.
then just delete the right channel and use only the left one as a normal mono track

hey guys thanks again..
Beingmf - selecting those different options dosen't affect the audio at all.
metal_priest - That option is not highlighted in the drop down menu, so I cant selct it!!
Basically I ran 2 xlr cables out of a desk and into 2 inputs on my audio interface but only the left recorded due to a fault. I just need to play that left channel out of both speakers.. anyway I can!! anyone!!

Something fishy is going on with your file...the "greying out" of the multichannel-options seem to suggest that your file only has one channel.
Do you see two waveforms as in a stereo-file? One would be flat of course...

Do you have sound in both sides from other apps?
If so, my guess is that you should have a look at what outputs are assigned to the mastertrack and what in/outputs are enables in the preferences.

LOL!
ahahaha, this remember me that time i spent half of an hour trying to understand why the speakers didnt sound out of the digital mixer (yamaha DM1000), i controlled everything! the sends, the I/O map, the insert, the fx, everything and then..... i noticed the master was mute LOL
i looked to my friends near me and said in "letal weapon style": "now it's working".
XD
i m glad you fixed!

I feel like my issue is similar to this.
I recorded a wav file that produced a stereo file with audio on the left side and nothing on the right side.
https://imgur.com/FKyplOG
I now simply want to clone/copy the left channel to the right channel to make my mono track stereo.
But when I use the "Item Processing" --> "Explode Multichannel audio..." option mentioned in this thread, it creates a new track.
I don't want a new track as I already have the FX I want applied present on the first track.
So how do I duplicate the left channel to the right channel without creating a new track?
Or is this the wrong approach? Is there a simple way to collapse this stereo track down to mono so sound will play out of both the left and right speakers?

Find this in the Actions list and apply to your item.
Item Properties: Set take channel mode to mono (left)

This was easy and worked perfectly. Thank you so much for making me aware of it.

You can manipulate the channels of a multi channel file as you please. Select a single mono channel, for example. You can pan mono audio L-R-C.
To create actual stereo, however, you'll need to "produce" that. Putting a single channel up the middle is still the very same very mono sound. There's no hidden metadata in the file that can "restore" original stereo even though it wasn't captured - or whatever magic requiring statement I might make around that.
If the aim is simply learning how to select one channel in a multichannel file, all good!
If you want to create stereo though, you'd have to figure out a way to produce that from your mono sources.
