Default Interface recommendation

Recently registered, long-time reader here... Been playing in various bands over the years but getting tired of the scene and wanting to get into homerecording. Did my homework and decided on going with Reaper (have a bit of experience with Sonar, which doesn't run on Mac OS, though).

Still deciding on the interface, though. Requirements:
- playing/recording over existing backing tracks
- composing with EZdrummer and the likes
- recording guitar directly, that is: miked amps, maybe some hardware modeler (Axe FX); I am probably not going the route of Amplitube and sorts...

I've narrowed it down to
- Focusrite (Itrack Solo, Scarlett...)
- Komplete Audio 6

Apogee is slightly beyond my budget ;-) Looking for experiences (good and bad) and/or caveats with those interfaces. Any takers ?

I've been using my Komplete Audio 6 for a couple of years now and it is still as solid as the day I got it!

I'm a guitar player and I got tired of "the scene" many years ago. My little home studio keeps me sane.

Enjoy.

If you look a few threads down you'll see this thread :

http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=164100

It's about Focusrite Scarlett and I don't think there was anything but praise (er...including from me )

But I don't recall any complaints about the Komplete Audio 6 around here either.

As usual, get as many opinions as you can from credible sources.

I think this is one of the best forums around, the users are generally trustworthy and helpful.

And knowledgeable. Did I say knowledgeable?

Theres a milieu of knowledge in the forum. Those two AI's you mention seem to be the ones commented on favorably and most consistently in this forum anyway, for the price. I think Jorgen uses a Focusrite and I really like the results he gets. Im running a KA6 and have had no problems at all, both very good I'd say.

Morgon: What did you THINK you were saying when you said "milieu"?

"It's French, Jim, but not as we know it"

Think I am going to go with a Focusrite - seems to have the biggest following 😉 !
