Hey guys, Justin, Schwa -
Im with reaper for almost 5 years but active using can be less than few months - i know maybe few % of Reaper and absolutely loving it - and recommend it to everyone everywhere - BUT - im not English language holder and its hard sometimes understand what is new and how can i use it. I've watch all possible videos about what new in some version but there only small amount of it. Where for example for simple people like me can find some GIF's (or we should create) topics on what new things are and how to use them. Cockos Team release all the time some good stuff but rarely i can understand from release notes what those things do. Sounds lame i know.. but.
Thanks in advance!

Reaper-blog is my goto for checking new stuff.
Thanks a lot EpicSounds!
But, the question points to an interesting observation:
If Reaper devs makes an awesome feature,
that few knows about, and few know the name of or how to use it, for what, and where to find it.
Then, what value does it have?

Exactly!!! Reaper users (even like me (before cubase/ableton for 5years or more)) know that REAPER IS MASSIVE! So Devs need or We so treat where people very simple and friendly can find a GIF with new features and also Blogs about reaper too (more detailed in video if feature is BIG
Alot of people would use more Reaper if they understand more, because EVERY one (almost) is lazy so people don't wanna bother themselves and reading topics on forums all the time but just make music.

This prerelease makes me smile like a giant Swedish smiley!
Everybody happy about pre-fader metering but copying-pasting across tracks is even better for me!

Regarding pasting, from some quick experimentation it looks like you can copy from a midi editor to another track item but cannot copy from a midi editor to another midi editor .. but I might be missing something here

There are two actions in the ME action list to paste into the active MIDI item regardless of the source. I´ve just tried it and it certainly works. See more below...

I haven´t tried exchanging between ME instances, but you can copy (inside the MIDI Editor, one editor per project in my case) from one or multiple items into another single item. I haven´t been able to copy from, say, three items into another different three items, but maybe it´s also possible...

Thanks for the tip I didn't realise there was a separate action, I was using normal paste (ctrl-v) not the "Edit: Paste events into the active MIDI media item regardless of source MIDI media item" one.

There's none. You get an option in Preferences and an action. Do it yourself.

I wondered that too at first. I was right clicking the tracks but then discovered it is a global setting in preferences which makes sense. If it was per track, how would we know which was pre or post fader?

Justin, would it be much work to add a user definable presets function to the Peaks Display Settings dialogue? That would be very handy when switching between projects with different characteristics and purposes (ie, mastering vs mixing).

Not entirely ... lol ..
Cause here's the deal:
- When i choose RUN for the Action : "Options: pre fader metering", on Action List, nothing happens.
I honestly would have expected a toggle action in Action List, so you can toggle pre-fader metering
On/Off with a keybinding, preferably on a per-track basis :0)
With some kind of visual presentation in TCP and or Track channel strip, whether it is on or off.
Too much to ask ?!

While copying/pasting seems to work here, I see a strange behaviour with both normal paste and the new actions : when you paste (at least here), the edit cursor goes to the end of the MIDI item. It doesn´t happen with pre6, so it must have been introduced with the new functionality...

I experience this very same behaviour.
Seems totally illogical for me.

But pre-fader metering DOES report its on/off state in the action list... If you assign it to the toolbar, you can clearly see it sticking the state it's in correctly. Works just fine here.

Just discovered this nasty one:
- In MIDI Editor, the Actions "EDIT duplicate events one octave lower" / higher don't work on
first note(s) in a midi item ; this note / these notes don't get duplicated 1 octave.

Fixing the cursor placement after pasting, thanks for the report.
The new MIDI pasting code does have some unexpected behavior when pasting from or to multiple tracks. Working on improving this.

This would be great. Just a few that we can recall with actions too.
Or.. maybe Justin has more features planned for spectral peaks so there's no point creating presets for it yet!

So, the idea is that you make, i.e., three tracks editable, copy their content, then make editable another three tracks and paste to them with the new actions? All I achieved by doing this is getting all the data pasted into the track which is set for inserting events...
