Reaper/EuCon/Mac theme
Just recently switched to a Mac with the 2560 x 1440 display.
Also use the Artist controllers.
I believe there's a fabulous theme out there awaiting implementation that leverages all of this.
Any thoughts / takers / White Tie are you still around these parts ?

I think you're looking for the IMPERIAL theme?

Actually, I've been using the Imperial theme since the beta testing days, it is excellent.
I'm now looking to take it up another notch, with more EuCon integration.

What kind of integration did you have in mind? Great work on EUCON+reaper by the way!

Thanks, much appreciated.
Well, I've actually been reconsidering a bit, I'd also like to include the Apollo in this mix.
So, for instance, with Apollo real time input monitoring you don't need Reaper input selection -- Off-On-Auto(TapeStyle), so that button could be removed entirely, that sort of thing.
Also seems to me you could use the colouring of items to reflect their state, somewhat like the S6, say a red glow around any fader whose channel is in record.

I'd be VERY much into this idea. Same setup here.

Thanks for the interest.
We should sync up our gear lists, I'll go first.
Apollo 8 w Tbolt
Lynx Aurora -- LT-ADAT -- to/from Apollo -- (soon, pending LT-ADAT card arrival )
Dangerous D-Box
Artist Mix x2
Artist Control
Artist Transport
Mac Mini 2.3GHz i7 16GB 1TB
27" Thunderbolt Display
There's always a great oppurtunity to make a killer theme when you put particular constraints dictated by hardware -- e.g. -- I'd want 16 tracks max visible in the mixer since I have 2 Mixes (the 4 faders on the Control are locked to Master, Reverb returns, Selected track, that sort of thing).
With only 16 tracks and 2560 x 1440 pixels you could do a fvkin' killer graphic treatment of a Strip -- White Tie where art thou?
Interested in keeping this discussion going...

Wocher Geoff. I foolishly assumed this was a "someone please make a theme that looks like.." thread and dodged it, apologies.

If you're asking for a bespoke Imperial cut just for your specific personal uses and the vague possibility that someone else out there might have the same setup ...how dare you sir! But ..er... yeah, okay, maybe - since its you

Do you not only not need to change the input setting, do you also never need to see the current state displayed? What about if you accidentally kestroked a state change? You'd have to change theme/layout to find out what the hell is going on. Maybe that's OK for you as a user who knows his own mind, and it would need to be; for me as a designer its extremely bad practice! How about indication of a change from a defined 'normal' state?
Faders in R are an image, and we can't swap images by record state. So what you suggest isn't possible. FWIW We can change codestuff like position or (more practically) the code colours of text, by record state.
And no, before you ask, we can't change codestuff based on selection state.

Sounds like an absolute monster. What would you want all that space used for? Just general biggerness? Note that imperial is already massive, but does use all that space to show every single control, all the time.

That's a very good point.
I should also unmap any keystrokes or menu choices that invoke this functionality.
Basically I would like to remove it from the Reaper feature set, thereby reducing the GUI verbosity - some would say clutter, because in this context (external input monitoring through the Apollo Console) it is a meaningless feature.

Bummer…
And Yay that we can at least change text colour.

Here is the setup, please forgive my lack of photography skills and the terrible lighting.
There are 2 images one with the "Canadarm" extended - useful for programming, general computer tasks, and one with it retracted for Reaper.

You can easily see that the Reaper position requires larger screen elements.
So yes, general biggerness as well as simplification - they kind of go hand in hand.
Thanks for the info you've already provided.

What we *can* do, though, is to switch between different (Mixer Panel) track layouts, depending on things like record arm or selection state, from the end of the control surface (I did something much like that a few days ago for an OSCII-bot script that uses REAPER's OSC Control Surface feature).
For Geoff's example, I think we would ('only') have to create/modify Mixer Panel track layout(s) with a a "red glow around [the] fader", as I would assume Geoff can also handle state-dependent layout switching from the control surface's end in his extension?

Hey Geoff.
Welcome to the dark side. Any progress on EUCON? Have you tried the latest EUCON software? It's still problematic. "I don't have a good feeling about this..."

I try each new version, but always have to go back to 2.7.1 in order to get stability.
