Default ctrl+mousewheel… double checking

Is there a hidden setting in Reaper or OS X, or can you not use the combination of ctrl+mousewheel?

Reaper Preferences/Editing/Mouse

Uncheck the box for "Control + left click emulates right click"

This is "hidden" in that it's possibly the most confusing language possible!

Checked is normal mouse operation with control-click (right-click) giving you contextual menus.

Unchecked disables the control key from the OS and lets Reaper use it for an additional modifier key. Understand that you will give up contextual menus which are used often in Reaper. Pick your battles.

There's no emulating going on whatsoever. (Right-click has been a shortcut for control-click since forever.) This is probably messed up from the key swap between OSX & Windows (Command key vs. Windows key)

It doesn't matter whether this is checked or not

Unfortunately it doesn't work either way

There seems to be no way of using ctrl and mousewheel together.

I'll get on with my life. It's no big deal

Isn't the "command" key (or similar) the OSX equivalent of ctrl? I seem to remember ctrl on Mac and Windows never did the same thing.

It is. I'm not sure what the ctrl key on mac is eqivolent to on the PC though. 'Windows'?

Anyway, the possible combinations (used with mousewheel) are:

⇧⌘

⇧⌥
⌘⌥
⇧⌘⌥

With mouse clicks, ctrl is allowed...

⇧⌘

⇧⌥
⌘⌥
⇧⌘⌥

⇧⌃
⌘⌃
⇧⌘⌃
⌥⌃
⇧⌥⌃
⌘⌥⌃
⇧⌘⌥⌃

With my current mapping, my mousewheel modifiers are thus...

none - Vertical scroll
⇧ – Horizontal scroll
⌘ – – Zoom Vertically
⇧⌘ –
⌥ – Zoom Horizontally
⇧⌥
⌘⌥
⇧⌘⌥
