Default SATA disk LOST

I have today moved to win 7. Fresh new HDD and fresh new Windows7 64bit and fresh new RAM.

My workstation consists of 3 SATA disks
1 550 MB disk with operating system and all the parafernalia (this one's new)
1 1 TB disk as workshop
1 1 TB disk for backup.

Unfortunately the workshop disk is 'gone'. As in: can't be seen in the BIOS, can't be seen in Windows. Under XP I sometimes had this problem. Then I rebooted and (phewww!!) there it was again. Now it is completely AWOL. I have everything backupped so that's no problem. But it must be possible to get the disk connected again.

The web gives very inconsistent advice on the subject. Is there anyone here knowing where to look for the answer?

Sounds like your hard drive died and not very likely it will come back.

Did you check the connections on the hard drive? Maybe try replacing the hard drive's cable.

Good luck.

That's a bummer. Both 1TB's are from September 2009. It HAS been used extensively, though.... so perhaps you're right. Hmmm, 135 euro's.
