Default Ultra-Blazing Reaper Config

This configuration is unbelievably blazing. Projects that used to bog-down other DAWs (including PT systems) run with processor utilization at “Stop being such a wimp and give me something to actually work on”.

How’s about roughly 80 tracks, 16 FX busses, roughly 16 mults, around 50 active plugins (not including the 16 on the FX busses, and roughly half of those are actually UAD-2), several virtual keyboards / drum samplers, tracks assigned outputs across 48 SSL channels and average CPU load around 18%. Disk I/O is barley measurable. Oh yea – did I mention session is at 96k?

Unbelievable. Seriously.

Configuration:

Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 X58 motherboard
Core i7-950 3.06GHz processor
Corsair Dominator DDR3-1600 (3x2gb triple channel=12gb)
Gigabyte Radeon HD 5450 video
2x Corsair 256gb solid state drives (RAID 0)
4x Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB (RAID 0+1)
Rack Case, heavy fan cooling on everything
2x SSL MADIXtreem 128
2x SSL Alphalink SX
2x SSL Alphalink AX
2x UAD-2 Quad
Windows 7 64bit
Everything externally Clocked (WC)
Nothing OC'd. Just not needed atm.

Thank you Reaper.

What's the onboard Firewire (IEE-1394) chipset?

Are you hasving any issues with the SSDs? I was thinking about adding a couple RAID 0 SSDs but cant seem to convince myself they are stable enough yet.

3 X 2GB = 6GB, not 12GB.

Although it is a pretty impressive set up. Not far off from my machine bar the many SSD/HD's and double the RAM.

The Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD5 has a TI firewire chip controller.

I got to ask. Why RAID 0 SSD's? They're supposed to be fast enough already.

meant to say 0+1 but my mind works faster than I type. So to compensate for mirroring.

Neat! What was the total price?

@matsuri - I've read lots of people on EastWest forums have 24 or 48 GB of DDR3 by now

They're very stable. In fact much more than a regular HDD.
