Default V5.35 Melodyne 4 Studio crashes reaper

Hey guys,
I'm new to Melodyne and had several crashes today when using the vst3 plugin in reaper. The crash cannot be reproduced. When using Melodyne it crashes from time to time (in average one crash every 10-20 minutes I would say). I don't have any crashes when using the Melodyne Stand Alone Version.

Yep its quite problematic here too. I have Studio version 4.1

Also if i try to use Freeze to the last touched insert Reaper hangs completely. (it says reaper stopped responding)

While version 3 was working quite nicely for me v4 is a disaster full of problems in Reaper. And going back its not possible becuase they removed our v3 licenses and replaced them with v4 only licenses.

Celemony support wont do anything after you mention Reaper, since they claim they dont support it officially.

Lost an hour of work today again. Between editing in Melodyne Reaper just stops working (also the issue with double key input on melodyne track names can be seen on the screenshot):

it's such a pain. I seriously think about changing my DAW, although REAPER superseded cubase after 10 years in use. I love REAPER, but melodyne is essential for me. Without ARA it's at least very uncomfortable but I can't handle this kind of issue.

While I use Melodyne I use it on it's own.
vst3? has this got a vst2.whatever version have you tried this? I have plugins which
struggle with vst3 in Reaper but the vst2. version works like a charm.
When I use Melodyne on it's own all I do is diminish Reaper and pull up Melodyne
I do not get out of Reaper just put it down to the bottom of the screen works for me.

Grinder: This is the first thing I tried both vst2 and 3, both have the same issues with crashing.

Ive also tried rewiring standalone but its too painful too use.

Gass n Klang: Ive tried ARA in S1 in detail (I also have a s1 license because some of my clients use it)and while it looks perfect on paper it has its own problems that will drive you insane (i had edits reseting themselves, melodyne data disapearing,etc...).My firstmost wish is to have a stable normal option via capture- its the most flexible one.

I'm in contact with Celemony because of this. I'll tell them, the vst2 version is also instable (they told me I should try it, but I haven't had the time yet). Perhaps just write an eMail to them with the same issue. Perhaps they'll test it with reaper and publish an update...
I think when they get enough emails, they'll think about that.

Been there done that several times.but they only tell you that Reaper is not officially supported(at least they did in the past). But im interested in what theyll tell you.

They are actually very responsive and helpful (from the dealings I had with them connected with S!)- but when you mention Reaper things stop.

alright. They want to know when exactly the crashes happen. If we can tell them, there is hope! They told me the amount of people using REAPER+melodyne is very small. So we have to find out where the problem exactly is.

Crashes on my end usually occur when editing/deleting blobs. Ill write to them again with full details.

and it just killed another few hours of work -.-

Another problem: if you change the project start time, melodyne get's crazy. even if they show bars in their plugin, the starting point just goes hand in hand with reapers time. I'm editing several tracks of classical music in the same project at the moment and changed the project start time (the clients wanted some changes at 1min 30sec and so on ...) and it all messed up... it's a fuckin mess.

sorry cockos, working with melodyne is essential (!!!) to me. I don't want to leave you but I think I have to.

The timing issue occurs with all hosts that dont have ARA.
The solution is to teach Melodyne of the changes.

Then hit the chain button next to the tools and a dialog will appear:



You can choose variable tempo and hit play from the start so Melodyne can learn of the changes.You have to play it through all the changes.

Hope this helps.

Fortunately Im DAW agnostic- I use the software (I own licenses for most of them) my clients bring the projects in/prefer. But personally I prefer Reaper, but this part with vocal/pitch editing is really painful for quite some time now.

I just received an answer from their support and I was told that these issues have been forwarded to their product management. Lets hope there will be some progress soon.

I'm still in contact, too. They asked me to send them a project that crashes. I will try to create a buggy minimal setup project (one track, no plugins) to send them.

Hopefully youll succeed to recreate this. Ive sent them my crash logs, however there wasnt enough information in them. I tried to create a dmp file via Task manager but it was blank unfortunatelly. Will try again when the next crash happens.This one is really tricky I guess.

The double keyboard input in Melodynes text field I also reported was confirmed and forwarded to their developers.

They have a top notch customer support.

Ive managed to get a crashlog via AppCrashView and sent it to Celemony support. I just got an email that it was forwarded to their developers.
