Default Essential stuff for electronic producers? (extensions, scripts, etc)

Hi everyone. After having a BIG situation handled very poorly by the Ableton staff I simply don't feel like using the software ever again, so I decided to try Reaper because of a friend's (who mostly does progressive metal and that just can't stop talking about it) recommendation and because I saw that Tycho was a heavy user.

I understand that Reaper is very customizable and the default template is very "blank" to let the user customize it to his own taste. So, are the good extensions, scripts, etc that you find make your life easier and that you could recommend to me? Especially stuff regarding transposing audio, sampling, automation and midi handling (I'm a Nu Disco producer if that helps)

Thanks in advance!

Welcome Download this first^^^ its a set of incredible scripts the users have made. My favorite being the groove tool.

Then find a theme you like. Like this one http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...Imperial+theme

Or this theme http://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=87795

Then try this electronic template i made> http://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=184714

In terms of stretching, i belive reaper has the best in the buisness with many options. But I use the default algorithm for most things.

Do you have a sampler? Reasamplomatic will do the job if you dont. Heres a track template i made http://forums.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=184713

Your going to need to optimize things a bit so be prepared as reaper is chok full of options. My biggest optimization would be changing the zoom/scroll settings and docking the mixer on the left hand side kind of like a track inspector.

Reaper is very capable for electronic trust me.

All the themes you can find here: https://stash.reaper.fm/tag/Themes
Of course Reaper is nothing without SWS: http://sws-extension.org/
Go to http://reaper.fm/ and click Resources. There you will find some useful links.

Thank you for the help, guys! And wow, that Imperial theme!!!!

Also, good tip about the track inspector, never would have imagined it would be a thing! Makes me remember my Logic days, heh.
And thank you for the multi-out Drum template, it will definitely save me some boring routing hassles

Wow, after almost a week with it I'm going to migrate fully to Reaper and never look back. Just amazing how far the customization and workflow changes can go if you put a couple of hours into making the software your own. I feel it will gel with me in a way Logic and Ableton never were able to because if something bugs me there's always a way to change/hide/show it. It is also is so cool to explore the JS plugins, there can be some very interesting results to build texture with them in percussion and samples in general

Just one last question.

I really made Reaper into a very customized version of it. Is there a way to backup the way I customized it if ever need to make a fresh install? What should I backup regarding files, folders, etc?

Thank you

Either Preferences > General > Export configuration, or make a manual copy of the resource directory (Options > Show resource path in explorer/finder). The entire configuration for the current installation is inside that folder.
