The DSK Electrik Keys, DSK strings, DSK brass and DSK B3X are pretty good. However, I’ve had a few crashes when I tried to use more than one instance.

I've not tried the others.

You have a Dual Core? It's a known bug in SynthEdit plugins that cause a crash when using multiple instances.

Yes I have a Dual Core. So that explains it. Thanks

Most of the DSK Strings sounds are high-quality. Some are even comparable to Edirol's Orchestral, in my opinion (although nowhere near as many options for nuance).

Its a pity about the multiple instance bug. I'm planning on using this VSTi in a current project, hope it doesn't give me too many problems.

Yeah, but I have a single core and DSK strings still killed REAPER on me a few times.

Very nice sounding VSTis...just wish they weren't so CPU hungry.

Hi, I'm a newbie but I'm trawling the threads for anything relating to the problem I have. I've been using Reaper for a couple of months with a Toneport KB37 as ASIO soundcard and midi controller. I use some DSK VSTIs, and have had no problem until about five hours ago. Last night I recorded a sketch of something, and today I recorded a full version, using the same fx chains and settings. Now Reaper keeps telling me that my ASIO device isn't connected and Windows tells me that Reaper has to close. Now it won't even start. I've done a system restore, I've changed usb leads, I've reinstalled,I've tried restarting my computer numerous times, but no joy. As far as DSK stuff goes, I think it's great. I used to use it with Cantabile, render to a .wav and then drop it into CoolEdit...told you I was a newbie. The sounds are great.
If anyone can help I would be very grateful. I love Reaper, and would really like to carry on with it.

sounds like a hardware / driver problem, you might want to post a new thread and state the specifics of your system.

Thanks StepOne, where would you suggest that I post it? Remember I'm a newbie, and not technically inclined!
Appreciate your reply,
Ian

ianmcallister, you could probably post this under bug reports or in the newbie section, but before you go, have you tried the following?

If you've got a Toneport KB37 then you should have the Gearbox interface that you can bring up on your computer. If you can use Gearbox then I believe your computer is detecting your Toneport. If not, then for some reason your computer isn't recognising your KB37.

If the above is OK and Reaper isn't opening, you could try the following.

In the programs list, under the Reaper folder select Reaper (create new project)

If that doesn’t work you could try the more drastic option below, but you’ll have to re-do your settings in Reaper afterwards.

In the programs list, under the Reaper folder select Reaper (reset configuration to factory defaults)

...and to bring things back on topic, I've not had any problems when I used single instances of the DSK stuff.

Sorry to bump this old topic...

Tried some free VST's from DSK music, sounds pretty well.

However, wondering if anyone know if their HQ instruments (paid) would work in Reaper?
http://www.dskmusic.com/high-quality-instruments

As Reaper isn't listed there:
"Available in 9 formats: Soundfont, Kontakt, Reason, Giga, Sampletank, Sfz, EXS24 (Logic), DirectWave (FL Studio) & wav
Compatible with all DAW software: FL Studio, Live, Cubase, LMMs, Mixcraft, GarageBand, Logic…"

Works with soundfont or wav or something like that. Don't know in what manner it's the same as the free VST's from their site. Is there any difference in a way it wouldn't work?

And if it works: are there really 690 instruments? Or are these presets or something like that? And is it worth the $25 ?

There are a few interesting threads about dsk on kvr.

Reaper isn't listed as compatible, is probably because the plugins were released before reaper existed.

They should be OK. Reaper is second to none with plugin handling and stability, even with old DLLs.

According to a thread I started on KVR, the HQ Instruments seem to be a sample libraries.
Which need to be played via Kontakt Player:

Hmm, seems more workaround.. Will stick with the free instruments I guess.
