Default Noise Gate to Volume Envelope ReaScript?

Maybe this already exists? Please link me if it does.

I do a lot of mixing of live multi track recordings. So that I am able to compress and eq the hell out of stuff, I usually have to volume automate between vocal lines, guitar parts, etc... My idea is to have a ReaScript I can apply to say a vocal track that would:

1 - Have noise gate type of settings.
2 - Will draw a volume envelope based on those settings that I can edit after it is applied (catch the stuff that slipped thru....tighten attack and decay settings as needed)

Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to make? I am no coder/developer/designer.

This would be a wonderful no destructive way to pre-dsp volume automate and would take HOURS of work out of a live multi track mix!

If something like this already exist, could somebody point me towards it?

I doesn't seem like it would be terribly difficult to code.

I think we should expand spk77's "Manipulate take envelope" to make possible to operate with all kinds of dynamic processing stuff. I saw already same requests like we see in this post.

Unless I am missing some capability that is not apparent, that does not address what I am after.

If I inserted a Noise Gate effect on a track and rendered that track, it would output a .wav file that had the noise gate applied to it. I would see a peak file of the new audio.

What I am looking for instead is for the render to output a volume automation graph that lays over the audio that can be manipulated. The volume automation graph would be based upon the effect the noise gate would have on the audio, but without actually creating a new file, and it would show me in volume automation terms the effect of the noise gate.

A feature like this would be VERY useful for a number of things. I often use volume automation to turn down tom tracks on drums until the player actually plays the tom, in which it is turned back up. A noise gate often is not a good choice because it is locked into it's threshold, hold, release times, and those don't always bode well with the tom hit. Having the kind of capability that I mention above would mean I could see what effect the noise gate would have, then go edit the volume automation on the hits that need further tweaking.

It would actually be used for any number of tracks that have background noise that needs to be reduced in an intelligent manner.

You could try:

Duplicate track
Insert fx "col/pan smoother"
Prameter modulate vol with audio ch 1+2
Thres min = gate lo
Thres max = gate hi
Strenght = 100% for gate, less for expander
Invert phase for track

Don't know if it works
