Default Disable midi to specific VSTs? (solved)

I inserted a VSTi synth on a track and made a few notes in a midi item. Then I placed a VST effect after the synth. The problem is that this effect also receives notes from the midi item and this messes up how the effect works. Is it possible to disable midi notes to specific VSTs on a track or do I have to insert the VST on a separate track?

On the VSTi's window, right-click the [in / out] button, MIDI Output > Disable
