Jamstix videos
For those of you that use or are thinking of using Jamstix. There's a 4 part series by djbolivia on Youtube. Jamstix videos used to be pretty hard to come by so this will be beneficial for many. I've only watched the first one so far but it looks like he's going to be pretty thorough in his coverage. Anyway, here it is.

Cant wait to check em out. jamstix has been in need of good tutorials for years
It is easily the most confounding software ive had. I dont think ive wanted to like any software more than JS but have never got a usable workflow or results. I even payed for an upgrade

Hi dayvyg-
Thanks for that link. He uses REAPER for the 3rd tutorial (Pro Tools and Cubase for the first two.) It seems like it's a very thorough series, as you say. Lots of talking, though !
Thanks again-

Yeah, judging by the first video, he does seem rather chatty.
I did spend a week of evenings about a year and half ago going through the manual and I do have a decent grasp of Jamstix. However, it is pretty deep and I'm sure there's lots I don't know. Hopefully, this series will expose some of those things.
It is a pretty amazing piece of software. I was dreading the thought of programming drums before I discovered Jamstix. Now, it's like I have a bunch of session players I can boss around. Finally, that sense of power I've wanted my whole life.

Admittedly, he's no Kenny Gioia and there are a few inaccuracies. However, there's lots of good info too. I think he should have just stuck to one DAW and focused more on Jamstix itself. Anyway, I'm only part way through the second video and am hoping it does shine the light on some things. We'll see...
It's safe to say that if you have some familiarity with Jamstix, you can probably skip the first video. He does ramble on a fair bit and doesn't really get into the program too much. He does do a decent overview in the second video (despite the song builder inaccuracies). Of course, you can always add a comment about these inaccuracies and hopefully he'll update the video.

No problem. He can be a bit frustrating to listen to at times. Hopefully, with some constructive criticism and editing, these will become much better. Jamstix is in need of some good video tutorials and these are a step in the right direction.

Hi dayvyg-
I agree, the more Jamstix tutorials the better. What frustrated me (after getting somewhat used to him talking so damned much!) was when he either drew a circle around a label or something and read what it said (we can read!) or drew a circle around something and said he'd get to that later.
Anyway, it was a good effort and I'll post my comments there.
Thanks-
-Susan

Well, I finally watched all of them. It wasn't quite as enlightening as I was hoping. Some of his explanations were, as you said, him just reading the label. However, it does provide a pretty good overview of the product. Definitely, in need of some judicious editing though.
Perhaps, he'll take another crack at it or inspire somebody else to give it a try.
