Default Item select

Hi,

I've been trying for hours to find how I can select an item on the arrange view without the playhead moves at the same time.
I searched inside several menus with no success.

How ?

Couple of quick ones:
Shift + left click
Ctrl + left click
Alt + left click
Right click over the item, then ESC.

These may differ if you have customized your mouse modifiers.

So, Open Reaper Preferences.
Select "Mouse Modifiers" section in the left column.
Choose context "media item" and "left click"
Choose for Default Action : "Select Item"
Click on "Apply" button, at bottom right.

Done !

Good call, I'd also suggest a slight variation of the above.

If you just change the default click action to "select item" you lose the option of moving the edit cursor when you want to.

I'd also suggest selecting another modifier - e.g. Shift Alt - and assigning that to "Select Item and move edit cursor".
