Default I have Guitar Rig 4.....do I need Guitar Rig 5????

WEEEEELLLL.....DOOOOOOOO I????????

Damn.....there's no way in the world I needed it when the upgrade was a hundred or two hundred dollars or whatever it was.....but now they have this special offer - no brainer - one time only - can't live without deal. Like $45 bucks to upgrade. But.....do I really fucking need it????? I record like one new tune a month. There are already 4000 presets that I will never work my way through. Still, this new version seems to have some Tele/Strat Clean sounds that I know would give me multiple orgasms if I heard them......DAMN...DAAAAAMN DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN.......

by the way....does anyone know what the diff between and Upgrade and an Update is????? The upgrade is like $45. The Update is like $35.

It doesn't really specify what happens if you buy the update. Kind of seems to me that updates should be freeeeeeeee!!!!!

Opinions? Thoughts? Favorite Beers?

You already have GR4... you want the 'update' ($39.50 usd). This will give you GR5.

The SOLID MIX SERIES and TRANSIENT MASTER and VINTAGE COMPRESSORS are easily worth that.

Your call...

The upgrade is if you have an OEM 'cut down' version (or similar).

The only thing that comes with GR5 is Transient Master.

You have to purchase Solid Mix and Vintage comps separately, and they are not cheap.

Your right.

It was listed on the GR5 page... I just didn't read the 'fine' print.

No you don't need it.

If you're determined to part with some dosh, why not put it towards something that you do need.

If I had to choose between "upgrading" to Guitar rig 5 and buying Valhalla verb, I know what I would do.

Sometimes I think vst's are the new heroin.

Default I just did

I have been using GR4 session for a long time and the "free' timed out demo of GR5 for about 5-6 mos. GR5 seems to be a vast improvement so I bought it for $50. Thanks for the heads up Doughboy!

BTW Bell's Porter and Two Hearted are my favorites......

Have a look at Recabinet 3.1.1. They have dynamic modelling of cabs which markedly improves the sound, and I would bet much more so than going GR4 --> GR5.

My opinion...

AAAARRRRRRRGGHH.....okay....I decided to get it....then decided not to get it....then vice verca again....and right now.......I'M LEANING TOWARDS HITTING THE BUTTON.....i just can't stand having the old version when theres a new one there.....DAMN.

ReaCabinet...... I bought that awhile back...I really got into the ole IR's for a bit....but.....ya know what....IR's bore me to freakin' tears right now. and....I know...GR5 has them too....but...I don't have to fuck with them. Having 37 different mic postions for 50 different cabinets.....WHO GIVES A FUCK JUST GIVE ME THE "BEEEEEEEST" SOUNDING ONE.......all 500 combinations are juuuust a little different from the one before, but none of them are really better then the one before....juuuust different.

Don't get me wrong....if ya like them then that's great. It's just one more thing to waste my time for me.

===========================

Read my thread next month entitled: THESE IR'S ARE FREAKIN' AMAZING AND I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT THEM!!!!!

I got it.

You know one thing I really don't like about Guitar Rig. It's the same thing I don't like about EZ Drummer. Once you close the track and then bring the track back up....you don't have a freakin' clue what "preset" you were using. Other then general idea. It just gives you the shell of the rig. Same with EZ Drummer. It's like....what loop was I even using. It's worst with EZ Drummer since you need to really match up your drum loops so they sound real. With Guit Rig...you can just pick another preset and hope for the best.

Are you saying... that if you have GR5 on a track and you select a preset, then 'hide' GR, that when you bring it back up the preset has changed/vanished?

Cuz that ain't right if that is what's happening.

No....the preset will keep working just fine. But....the rig just appears as an empty shell.....soooo, ya know, if your wondering which preset you had picked so you can use it next time.....there is no way to tell. At least that I can figure out.

I still have GR3 I'm a bassist so I've never messed with it much but I can't get the amp models to work. The guitar just stays clean even though I can see it running the meters.

Bluz......gulp.....taking my foot out of my mouth. I was wrong it is there....I could have sworn that amps and such disappeared....hmmmmmmm.....

Tangerine....you're doin something wrong....you would definately hear it. All though....personally....I haven't really given much of a shit for there bass presets....I haven't tried "5" yet....but I will

For bass I use Studio Devil.....plus a few other plugs on the track....but...it rocks..... http://www.studiodevil.com/products/..._bass_amp_pro/

They DID disappear, but you could tell somewhere what it was. It was roundabout, but you could tell what preset it was (I've forgotten how -- haven't used it in a while). And it still played correctly. Maybe it's different in 5?
