Default Midi recording doesn't start when *start* playing

Okay, so I've marked off a selection of a track to punch in on a MIDI piano track. I record the take. Perfect, exactly what I was going for. BUT, upon listening back, Reaper cuts off the first part of my playing. It does this *always*, and I'm forced to go back and manually draw chords or whatever I was playing.

Does anyone else experience this problem? Anything I can do to solve it?

Dave

I don't really have an answer for you Dave, other then the way I like to record my midi. I use "Record: Midi over dub". Right click on the "Arm" button to select it. It depends on which version of Reaper you have as to how it shows up . Then I just record everything with record mode set to "Record mode: Normal".

I don't record loops so it might not be what you need.

Are you definitely playing at "the first part" of your recording, or before? I have a tendency to play slightly *before* the beat, so always start my midi recording 1 bar before the bar I need to actually record from.

Yeah, I am. I wonder if "touch replace" would work better than just "overdub"?

Latest reaper now catches early notes, do you also have the right click record button option for pdc compensation on as it could be this.
