Drove 1,000 miles to be at the '69 Varsity weekend...his performance is one of the few that still lingers...he put on a very memorable show...his '69 "Johnny Winter" album made a huge influence on me...rip.
(thanks Karbo, for the great clips)

Man I so regret that I never saw him live. He never really got the recognition he deserved.
Some of his live recordings were like a punch in the face. VERY powerful. Hell of a player.

Reaper, Reason 8, Studio One Artist, EZ Drummer 2, and not enough time.
Patti Smith writes in her book about her time at the Chelsea Hotel, where she shared a small "studio" and household and sometimes bed with Robert Mapplethorpe... among all she meets (she's gracious and discrete about everybody, only portraits people she likes)... however, Johnny Winter stayed there too for a while, and they got to know each other... intense, great guy, she says.
