Default Undoing "Add Track" reloads instruments (slow!)

Sometimes I add a track that I soon realize I don't need.

So I undo back a few steps. When the "add track" action is undone, Reaper then needs to load a bunch of instruments again. This slows down my workflow.

Why is this? Is there a FR to fix this out there? I get the feeling there is some track ordering scheme under the hood that's hardwired when there should be an abstracted numbering layer.

Try with enabled "Save minimal undo states" for these instruments in FX Browser.

Can you explain how that would help?

In the example, none of the steps included changing anything in the instruments, just e.g. track send/level settings, etc.

The instruments that reload don't necessarily have anything to do with the tracks that have been created and undone.

Hey Dstruct, can you explain where to find this? I can't locate it.

Hmm can you provide a specific sequence where it reloads instruments and should not?

Hi Justin, thanks for asking. Shouldn't you be relaxing on a weekend?

I tried creating a test project with just tracks with software instruments but couldn't reproduce the issue. So perhaps it requires actual items data to surface.

In any case, in all my full production projects (~20 audio and 10 software instrument tracks), whenever I create a new track and then undo the action, all the software instruments have to load again. So I guess load up a large project with actual data in OS X and give it a try.
