will Reaper work with this DAW Korg NANOcontroller?
I cant find Reaper written in any of the reviews for this DAW controller
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP-E...-ElX43FOg#t=15
Its a Nano Kontrol studio,
and more importantly, can I use more thane ONE with Reaper? what do I have to set in Reaper to accept 2 or more?

I have been using 2 of the original NanoKontrols w reaper for years. Mk2 also works fine, so I guess we can assume the studio one will too.

Yes. They are MIDI controllers, sending out MIDI data which you can then link to REAPER and plugin controls. Just enable the controllers in MIDI preferences.

noise hi, will reaper actually work with 2 or more of them at the same time though? and I will be connected by USB, not a Midi cable

No Reaper
Unfortunately Reaper isnt listed
on the KORG site for this:
Cubase 8,
Ableton Live 9,
Digital Performer 9,
GarageBand 10,
Logic Pro X,
Pro Tools 12 (except for Pro Tools Express),
SONAR,
Studio One 3,
and other software that accept data from MIDI input.
I will be using USB cable not midi, so does rule out Reaper?

They show up as a midi device in the system. You should have no trouble.

Sure, I have three MIDI controllers connected via USB, one of them a Nanokontrol.

Go to Videos at the top of the forum page - have a look at 'setting up shop' - there are 3 videos there on MIDI setup which should put your mind at ease

FYI: To use multiple of the same controllers together, set them to different MIDI channels.
You do this with the controller devices themselves. Not with a DAW setting.
Break out the manual for the controller and look up how to set the MIDI channel.

I don't think there's an upper limit to the number of MIDI devices you can connect, certainly more than three.
Do note that you will indeed have to "touch anything in the controllers" if you want to use more than one of them. Left at their defaults, they will all send the same CCs on the same MIDI channel, meaning they will all do the exact same thing.

I'm pretty sure you could toggle any settings back and forth if you need to. Nobody makes a product like this that you would only let you program it once and then force the settings to be permanent. (Haha. Imagine the return rate! ) You can probably save profiles like patches.
Not sure if Protools lets you use MIDI controllers though. I'd look that up. My guess is they don't have the feature and only support a couple proprietary control surface protocols. (Protools feature set is about 15 years old to date now.) But if they do support MIDI controllers now, you'd literally need to do the same setup to use multiple units together.

In Reaper, absolutely.
You better vet Protools though. My guess would be that it doesn't support MIDI controllers.

Thanks serr, I do have a midi keyboard connected to ProTools, so I guess it does support midi?

Ridiculous, PT has supported MIDI controllers for at least over a decade and Nanokontrols can be used with PT in either HUI mode or normal MIDI.

Not motorised! What happens?
If I were to use just one daw controller with 8 faders.,, not motorised
If I mix the first 8 tracks with the 8 faders, then move to the next 8, mix, then go back to the first 8, all the faders will be wrong!? Because the faders are not motorised they will be set fir the 2nd bank of tracks!
Is this correct?
What happens?

You usually have a choice how to set it.
Option 1: As soon as you start moving the fader, the control it's mapped to immediately jumps to the fader position no matter where it was.
Option 2: When you start moving the fader, you need to move it to/through the position the control mapped to it is at. Then it 'picks up' and starts moving along with you.
If you bank through different groups of controls without touching anything, nothing should move.
If you need to bank around often, you kind of need motorized controllers.
I have my non-motorized UC-33e assigned to specific things. Certain channel faders, sends, & fx controls. I use one of the faders as a 'wildcard' and have the buttons programmed to select different things with that fader. I currently have it set like option #1. Not a big deal for just one fader. I also have the Faderport for the main 'roaming' fader.

noise, question.... re the new kong nano studio controller
It has a jog wheel, which is great, but is there any way to zoom in up, down, left right in the edit window?

I don't have the Studio model with a jogwheel, but as far as I can tell it can only send one CC or two CCs and has no modifier buttons to alter those on the fly- unfortunately it seems that you can only either zoom or scroll with it, you'll need to look at some other device to do all of those at the same time.

Unlikely unless there is a MIDI control commandset that will accomplish this. Then you just map your Nanokontrol to it.
I am however assuming this new one operates with MIDI in the same way as the Mk1 and Mk2.
