Default Plugins cut off abruptly (reverb, delay) (SOLVED)

Weird. When I load up a reverb or a delay, they work fine, only, when I solo a channel, and the cursor moves past the end of the clip, the effects cut off abruptly say after 1 sec past the end. Is that normal? I tried rendering the file, thinking maybe it was just a playback issue. Nope. The FX cut off in the rendered file as well. Any thoughts??? This really makes it difficult to use Reaper. Help!

i guess you are referring to item fx rather than track fx. you can specify the length of the effect tail.

search the preferences for "take fx tail length".

Ok, small update. This issue ONLY happens when I use CLIP SPECIFIC FX. When I use the same FX on the track itself, I can't reproduce this issue. Any reason why FX on clips in a track get cut off?

I attached a small zip file containing a snare with a delay effect. One has the effect on the track, which you'll notice the delay plays out as it should. The other, I put the same effect with the same settings but on the CLIP instead, and notice how it cuts off. Any reason for this??? Thanks!

Thanks Soul! I found this thread here that also dealt with this problem: http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=41397

Problem solved! Here's what I did for anyone else experiencing this issue:
1. Options - preferences - media
2. Increased 2 options to 10000ms (10 sec):
- "Tail length when using Apply FX to items"
- "Tail FX tail length"

This did the trick. The Reaper forums ROCK!

There's two main ways to stop this. The first is going to the prefs and finding the option to "run fx on stop" and that I think will keep them going.

The other way is to unloop the audio item and pull the end out as long as you want it to keep going.

The reason for this is that item fx only use CPU whilst the audio item is playing which can be very useful for lots of little fx in things like film work

My dude.... just logged in to say thank you!

As a sound designer I was so sad about this issue.... I thought it was "THE WAY IT WORKS" so I was applying delay and reverb on the track instead of items.... now Reaper is even better then it used to be xD

Thank you once again!

Default Try a different driver

Hi all, I had the same problem with thereverb tail cutting short at the end of a song. I tried all the solutions posted above but got no joy. I then switched from Direct Sound audio driver to ASIO and the problem was fixed so my advice would be to check your audio driver.
Hope this helps!
