Love for midi ;)
In v 5.22pre3 this is hapening
when
is off and Mouse modifier for left click mouse in piano roll is to insert note based on last selected note length.
Is it normal? or..
Can we have this option
to not allow extending when inserting note (so note going to be shorter or its edge is not going to be visible)?

Yay! This innocuously worded bug fix is actually MASSIVE: REAPER can now justly boast of supporting multiple MIDI editors. This will greatly benefit fast sequencing workflow.

So far so good.
My 9 stave x 20 bar MusicXML export test loaded perfectly in MuseScore. Very simple parts at this stage with single voice per staff.
Included staccato marks, all clefs, beaming, note durations, rests and ties good.
There do seem to be some superfluous timesignatures.

I had a dream once that I saw Justin in a grocery store and started to ask him about this bug before he cut me off. :-D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUZtVd7z9hM
If this issue were corrected, it would make drum programming workflow easier from a visual clarity standpoint, IMO. Right now, if you only want the editor to show you a few rows, the rows become huge and unwieldy. If the rows were able to retain the same size as before the extra rows were removed, this would really help usability. Like if you wanted to have the midi editor docked and only need to have a few pieces named for kick, snare, hi hats, ect.
I think this is the last piece of the puzzle for a truly great drum editor mode in Reaper. It's like 90% there, but this bug is a pretty big deal, I think.

I am not sure that this is actually a bug. I wrote somewhere else regarding this problem:

If you select "Hide unused note rows" or "Hide unused and unnamed note rows", and you have only a few used or named rows, the MIDI editor will automatically spread them vertically over the piano roll area, and prevent you from zooming out further.
If you temporarily reduce the size of the piano roll area by raising the CC lane, you can zoom out and make the note rows as thin as desired. When you lower the CC lane again, the note rows remain thin.

It appears that the assignment of toolbar_midi_itemsel pngs to the media item lane button has been broken in a recent update. This used to be an assigned toolbar image on my configuration and it is now conspicuously text only, even though the image is included with the theme I use.
Could we please have this default assignment returned? Was this done because the media item lane button is no longer included by default in the stock midi editor toolbar?

That's an interesting observation. Seems that there's a workaround if I just name a bunch of rows with a single space which will then shrink the rows because there's more named notes. Wasn't able to figure out the CC lane thing you were talking about.
Still feels like a bug to me, or at least an oversight.

I am going to guess that you have customized mouse modifiers, and set MIDI note left drag plus some modifiers to "stretch note positions," but MIDI note left click plus the same modifiers is "select note and all later notes."

Now I see. That's cool that you figured that out, but we really shouldn't have to resort to that.

I agree. When hiding unused rows, no zoom should really take place - rows should stick to their current height as user set it up.

Okay I just checked my modifiers, you're right...I disabled the modifier assigned to the same key combo under left click and that did the trick...thanks!!

I noticed this can also occur with the default mouse mod assignments, eg shift+alt left drag will arpeggiate as well as select all notes in the measure, which is the action assigned to shift+alt left click.

Strange values "Off velocity" in the "Note Properties". It should be "0". My keyboard does not have the "Off Velocity" function. Tested on several projects. That value "Off velocity" is always the same "4294967295" and always appears to make a recording from the keyboard in any project. Writing the notes by hand its value it is normal "0". Reaper v5.22pre4 and also v5.211. Windows XP/ Windows 7 32. Regards.

@Iu.Gob this is "only" one Display-issue(since 5.2xx)
within/from Piano Roll/Note properties
for Notes which use
0x9n NN 0 (Note ON|Note No|Vel 0) instead of 0x8n NN VR(Note Off|Note No|Release Velocity) for Note OFF..
Properties display- List Edit vs Piano Roll same Note/Item
BTW
I vote for typing in -1 or OFF = use/change to 09x NN 0
typing in >=0 /edits within RV Lane = use 08x NN RV

Arpeggiate mouse modifier. You could've posted this in main forums, prerelease subforum is not really the place for questions on how Reaper operates in general...

MusicXML export looking really cool, thanks for that!
Something I noticed with Sibelius 7.5 is a nonsensical result from REAPER's MusicXML if assigning a two-voice part with upper voice set to "default voice" and lower voice to "low voice". http://imgur.com/a/pGnWK
The correct way, where upper voice is set at high voice, works correctly when imported to Sibelius, but seems like this other scenario should have a sane fallback.
Also something I realized just now is that the Notation: Set voice actions don't work from the piano roll, or any of the other notation actions either. They really should, I think in an effective notation workflow one should allow changes from all the views.

not totally up on the versions of XML MIDI, however I do know more than a few Sibelius users who work in 7 and 7.5...
One might hope that reaper could accomodate that version of XML import\export even if they currently target only the 3.0 for Sibelius 8
I have no idea how much coding it takes to deal with the XML in and out but do hope for the future reaper versions there could be that kind of backward compatibility???

Also noticed this. And when I filtered for 'itemsel' in the Customize menus/toolbars window, only 'toolbar_midi_itemsel_off.png' shows, not 'toolbar_midi_itemsel_on.png' (though it exists). I restored this manually by assigning the icon in 'reaper-menu.ini'.
