Default another wineasio question

Hi all,

I've got a #! linux box on which I have wine, jack2, wineasio, and associated libraries all installed. wineasio compiled correctly (no errors) but when I select it in the device prefs in REAPER there are no input output options, and i get an error after closing the window that tells me there was a problem with my audio device. (duh.)

is this a wineasio config problem or a REAPER config problem or both or neither? i've compiled and cleaned and re-installed wineasio a number of times to no avail.

i appreciate any advice you have.

(but no, i'm not interested in trying linreaper or another linux distro to run off of a flash drive.)

thanks,

-scacinto

I tried Wineasio+reaper under mandriva in 2008, it worked very well, i made an italian tutorial (currently obsolete) -> http://www.musicadigitale.net/thread...wineasio.5643/

hi thepriest,

while my Italian is rusty, I glean that your instructions are basically what are in the wineasio readme (and other tuts) I have read, the exception being the linking of the jack libraries. i have done all of this and my problem remains.

thanks anyway,

My system is dual booted with Xp 32 and Win 7 64 bit

But there is the third main OS and it is on a 8 gig thumbdrive as I use Puppy linux as my every day OS. I have reaper installed on it with Wine and installed the WineAsio install pack for Puppy linux. This way I can still load some projects from the windows dir and check some stuff.

This is most likely a bug in wine, that surfaced when there was a change in reaper. It should be fixed from version 4.23pre12a on. You can get it from http://landoleet.org/

thanks Jack, a user on the wineasio forum pointed out the same thing. He also pointed out an error that occasionally occurs between wineasio 0.9.0 and Jack2. I'll quote his advice below so others have it for reference. this DID fix my problem.

from the wineasio help forum, user Joakim Hernberg

"I think you might be encountering 2 issues here. First of all get the latest wineasio code from git://wineasio.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/wineasio/wineasio, you can do so with git clone git://wineasio.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/wineasio/wineasio The 0.9.0 tarball has a bug with jack2 that occasionally manifests. Second, A while back a change in reaper exposed a bug in wine, which has been worked around in reaper from version 4.23pre12a and on. You can get it from http://landoleet.org/"

Thanks very much,

-S

Haven't used REAPER for a while (couple of months) and finally got some time to do recording. As reported here and there, I had the Wine+ASIO issue (inputs/outputs are not shown), but after building/installing newest WineAsio (0.9.0) and latest REAPER Beta (4.25rc3), problem still exists.

In REAPER preferences it shows 2 different ASIO drivers (Wine ASIO driver and WineASIO driver), but neither one works. Also tried version 4.151 but no luck.

Does anyone have any pointers what to try next?

Wine: 1.4
WineASIO: 0.9.0
REAPER: 4.25rc3
Ubuntu: 12.04

Add the http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/Main_Page repos and install wineasio and wine-rt. This is a third party repo that puts right what is broken audio wise in ubuntu.
