Metronome in 2/2 time?
In any other time signature but 2/2 the metronome sounds every beat of the bar, ie, in 4/4 time it sounds 4 beats per bar, in 3/4 it sounds 3 beats per bar 6/8 it sounds 6 beats per bar and so on.
In 2/2 time the mertonome beats only the first beat of the bar and not both beats of the bar. Is this a Reaper glitch or am I missing the logic of it?

Hmmm, it works fine here.
You can force the metronome pattern, though. When you enter a tempo/timesig marker, you have an option to define the metronome pattern there, toggle the checkbox. Then for 2/2, enter AB. Should work.

Thanks for the reply.
The 2/2 time sig is not in the normal time signatures palette so I went to the Master Pallet and created 2/2 time there, but I can't find any check box to define the metronome pattern for 2/2 time.
Could you be a bit more specific please.
Appreciate your help.

OK thanks. I've not used that window before and had to look in the user guide to find that it comes up with shift+C.
My Tempo/Time Signature Marker window doesn't have the 'New Metronome Pattern' function shown in your example, probably because I'm still on v4.78, so I guess I'd better buy the upgrade to v5.4
Thanks for your help.

Yes, that was added at some point in version 5. Yes, you should upgrade

I've just downloaded the evaluation version of v5.4 and it comes up with this message on most of my project files:
"The following effects were in the project file and are not available. REAPER will keep their configurations, but things may not sound as desired".
The three plugins it lists are: Voxengo MSED, Audiocaston Compressor(x86) and Magnus Ambience reverb(x86)
How can I get v5.4 to recognize these three plugins?

It should work as it used to in 4.78, honestly. Did you just overwrite 4.78 or did you install as a portable?

I downloaded for Windows 64-bit, it put an icon on the desktop and I'm running it from that.
I'm using ASIO4All v2 and it's picked that up OK and plays back though my ALESIS iO2 interface but I get the attached meassage about my plug-ins.
I've played around trying to get it to load them but no luck.
Any ideas would be most welcome before I buy v5.4
(I still have v4.78 and it runs fine as usual)

OK I've cracked it!!
I found all the 3rd party plug-in .dll files in the Reaper 4.78 FX folder and copied them into the v5.4 FX folder and v5.4 loads them now.
Thanks for your help and patience anyway - much appreciated.

You are not supposed to have any VST plugins installed in Reaper's FX folder at all!
Have a different location for your VST plugins, then set that location in Properties->Plugins->VST. It should NOT be Reaper's folder, for various reasons.

Ah OK, I've had them in the Reaper FX folder in v4.78 for ages with no bad effects that I can see, but I use only basic functions of Reaper so any bad effects might not have shown.
Anyway I've taken your advice and moved my plugins out of the Reaper FX folder to their own location in both v4.78 and the evaluation version of v5.4 and they're both working fine.
I'll do a few recordings with v5.4 now,(sax quartet with mid-side microphone set up by the way, which is why I need the Voxengo MSED plug in), and then I'll pay for the v5.4 licence I guess.
Thanks again for your help and advice.

Keep in mind that if you bought your license for version 4, your license is still valid through version 5.x:
1) Reaper 4: Options -> Show REAPER resource path ...
2) Copy the reaper-license.rk file into the resource path of Reaper 5
As a side note: you can also open the 'reaper-license.rk' file in a text editor to see through which Reaper version your license key is valid.
