I'm An Alien [Punk rock]
Hello again
Brushed the cobwebs off the guitars to crank out some more melodic punk rockage
https://soundcloud.com/opivy/im-an-alien
Tried a few new mixing things this time around. Sounds ok on my shitty speakers but hope it's pleasant enough for you.
Suggestions welcome.....

Sounds killer in general but the bass slays the most.

I'll bet - in reality - you have great speakers, but they've been SO brutalized by your music, that long ago they just gave up.
I'd propose a bit less reverb. Very tiny proposal.
(P.S. bleeding midranges and tweeters are not a good sign.)

Thanks man.
I only just heard the soundcloud copy and there's something funky going on. Bass is not supposed to be that loud and guitars are too low. It's not like that in Reaper.
I think I rushed it at the end so I'm going to make a few adjustments and re-post it.

I was listening to it on already bass-boosting headphones and was sounding like a regular if a bit bass-centered mix for me. It's a good sounding bass, I'm not surprised you subconsciously set your mix to show it off :>

I just got here and am listening on Rokit 8's with a 10 sub and the bass is too quiet here. Once bass comes up, kick can go down a tick. Turn up vocals too please. Hi hats can come down a tick. Loud hi hats prevent me from cranking up so much music.
I like the energy !

Listen on phones:
Bass: Moderated mixed. Maybe more present?
Vocals: Get buried in the busy parts e.g. around 1:30

Agreed the bass is now probably not present enough. It's side-chained to kick so I have some more tweaking to do.
Vocals are strangely too low as well. Not sure what happened there.
Interested to hear if the overall eq is ok. There's some high's that I'm not sure about and as always, whether the bottom end is tight enough
Thanks again

Damn I wish I was in a place where I could cut loose sing free like you. All I'm allowed is low-loudness pretend vocs. Sounding good and open with the tweaks. Just thought the guitars had a bit of "telephone" quality, but that could be on purpose.

Rather than sidechain i would ride the faders to get the levels right.

I don't always post, but I listen to and enjoy all your songs, I'd be glad to link sites when I get this next project online, your call, see how it goes.
Im curious about the song before the last one you posted, the great bass sound that was commented on, is it the same one used here? which is very good, but the Bass from two songs back really kicked.

...and always appreciate your feedback.
The bass is way different (although do sound similar). For 'Little You' I was using the jazz bass in Amplitube 3 and this one was TSE BOD > Ampeg IR in Voxengo Boogex.
Updated version now on Soundcloud and I think it's a bit better balanced.
Bass up, kick/ hats down, vox up and few other tweaks.
