Default Edit left click mouse modifier to deselect media item without skipping in playback.

Currently I have my mouse left click able to deselect media items when clicking below a media item. Is there a way to deselect and move around the arrangement window without interrupting the audio currently being playbacked? Hopefully I explained that okay?

Also can I make my esc key deselect everything? (I may have changed the default a long time ago.)

In Preferences->Editing Behaviour->Mouse modifier, there is a context "Media item"->"Left click". You can assign predefined actions as well as custom action for this. When you assign "Item: Toggle selection of item under mouse cursor" to it, it might work as you want.

Also for Esc key, just search the action list for "Item: Unselect all items" and assign Esc key to that. You need to press "Special key" button in the assigning dialog.

that was easy thank you! I didnt manage to figure out the left click though. I don't know if theres a way. Because with that option you have to select the very top of the media item, though i want the whole thing.

There is also "Media item bottom half" context. If you set it to "Pass through", it will behave like a top half.
