Default Soft sampler on the cheap?

Anyone know of a cool soft sampler?

I use Kontakt and Alchemy, but I'm looking for a free or budget minded sampler that is functional. I wont be able to install Alchemy on a new computer because it is now part of Logic(making my license useless). Kontakt is part of Komplete which is expensive to upgrade.

Damn I'm on 10.6.8, tx16 requires 10.7. I've been avoiding upgrading, all my stuff works so well on 10.6.8.

Kontakt comes with Komplete, but you don't need Komplete to have and use Kontakt.

If you had it before what's your problem with it now?

I have no problem with Kontakt, it's my go to. The problem is that it came with Komplete which is expensive to upgrade. I am less interested in Komplete than I used to be. There are much better options for strings/horns and I would do well with one synth and one sampler.

Humm, why do you have to upgrade Komplete to continue using Kontakt?

Sorry JBrowning, I'm sure you have your reasons, it just seems strange to me that you would want to dump the best sampler out there for something much much less.

Hey Tod

I'm just checking my options. Kontakt 5 is at least 5 years old now, I would feel foolish to blindly move along without seeing what new options are available. Maybe we could start another thread to debate what sampler is the best.

You should see Kontakt in Native Access as a separate program & theredfore be able to get an update price just for it. I generally get Kontakt updates when they have a sale on in the summer which really cuts the price down & incidentally you wouldnt have to re-learn a new software if you are comfortable with Kontakt.
