It gives you the non-constrained time base (no 1/8, 1/4, etc 'notes' ) but the visual relationship of the vertical note relationships for chords etc.

Seems fine, but what about the reading of the notes under E2 and over C6 ?[\quote]

SORRY I had to bodge this to get post and reply. BPP does this by allowing you to choose where the staff centre is via a dropdown menu. Dead easy.

I am crap at posting screenshots, but BPP's hybrid staff/stave on the Amiga is THE one to beat.
Mixcraft version is pathetic by comparison.

Currently testing Mixcraft 6 in case you are wondering.

Here you go (from your post: http://forum.cockos.com/archive/index.php/t-31651.html) ... nice. Let me know how your test of MixCraft goes.

Seems like that couldn't be THAT hard to implement. And this pic shows perfectly how much easier it is to see what the notes are vs the piano roll. I can immediately look at, say, measure 8 and read the notes vs having to 'ruler back' to the itty bitty piano.

FWIW Mixcraft feels like you are watching someone else doing it.

Very odd - I have tried this software at several versions and had that same feeling every time.

Just don't feel comfortable in it.

Yeah, I've tried it and it's just not nearly as good as REAPER - even given that it has notation it doesn't fit me.

REAPER in general has spoiled me. I find other DAWS that *do* have notation to feel clunky and creaky compared to it. That's the reason I keep hoping that *some* kind of notation gets implemented.

I just gave rescore another try today. It really needs more work, minimum would be to set (reset) clefs.

Also if you are using keyswitches it really messes up a score, and a workaround is more work.

*sigh* I along with I suspect most all of us dedicated MIDI-nauts have pretty much given up on this in the short term.

Shame, but there IS more to life than a score view, or so they tell me.

J'ai mes doutes.....
