looking for the best FREE VSTi's for MAC
Hi folks
I'm looking to get some school kids into Reaper, but to make the most of it, I'm going to need some free (or at least extremely cheap) virtual instruments. Can anyone make any good recommendations?
They don't need to be top quality, but of course it would be preferable if they weren't bottom quality either...
Should ideally cover the following bases:
Drums - rock, pop and hip-hop
Piano
some bass options
synths
a few orchestral sounds
Any advice appreciated...

Piano One for piano sounds. It uses a mix of physical modeling and sampling.
Also get all the Native Instruments free Players. Kontakt 5 Player and the included Factory Selection has an amazing funk bass that I use on all my songs. Sounds slightly fake, but when it's buried under other instruments you can't tell and it fits in nicely.

u-he's Tyrell Nexus 6 is also a very nice free synth plugin, simple yet powerful. A bunch of decent presets included as well. I'd say it makes a good choice to teach/learn some basics of subtractive synthesis, and/or to just play around without any adult supervision.
