RADO - V O X - Theme.
I thought I would start a new thread with the release of the theme, hope that is OK with everyone. The old one can just get buried.
This is my completely graphically modified version of Nicks amazing RADO theme for Reaper 4.
I take zero credit for any coding, all I did code-wise was change some font colors and moved a couple of knobs around. All the credit for the original layout should and does go to Nick.
Graphically, it has been changed 100% or as close as I could get to 100%.
The toolbar icons remain Nicks design, only the button design differs.
I recommend installing the calibri font included in the zip for it to look correct.
I'd like to thank Nick for his generosity and his skills and to the folks who tested for me and helped me thus far. To those testers, a couple of you are waiting on some minor tweaks, i will get to them soon.
All this said, I hope everyone enjoys my interpretation of this wonderful reaper theme and I look forward to hearing your comments on it.
My site is http://maxstyles.com/news.php feel free to stop by and check out my other work. I would appreciate it.

Volume knob for what?
If you mean the one u can choose for media items, its there for me, red.. but there.
I have no idea how to add things to a theme.

The red thing is drawn by reaper. You can replace it simply by adding item_volknob.png to RADO-V4 unpacked. Then you can adjust the color of the line/strip in the knob by adding the hex code somewhere at the top of rtconfig.txt
item_volknobfg AARRGGBB AARRGGBB AARRGGBB ---(tweaked) (untweaked) (pushed)---
here`s the png from the default theme:

Ok, I made and added the knob, works fine, the marker is red, I dont have a clue how to add it.. I tried.
If u want to post a modified Rtconfig, making the color black or white for the marker for all three states, Ill add it and re-upload.
I'm allergic to code.... seriously. and so tired i could drop dead.
Original link updated with knob added.

if I may just add a suggestion.
I use a lot of auto-arm-when-selected tracks and I like to know which of those have auto armed turned on when they are not selected so I made a little mod that shows one possible idea on how to incorporate it (3rd track)

I`m lovin` this theme the more I use it. It`s really easy to get around. I`m really looking forward to seeing your renditions of toolbar buttons if you find the time to make them someday

Breeder, yep I was asked for that by a tester and will be implementing that soon.
Sergy, the play button was designed to be sliightly larger on purpose
I also will be putting up an official light version later.
Thanks everyone

Comment:
On my 20" monitor, it is almost impossible to see the bar lines in relation to the rest of the information in the tracks unles I am less than a foot from the screen and even then it isnt easy.
Also, the backgrounds are so dark and contrastless that all detail tends to get blurred by the brightness and lightness of the colour elements in the rest of the theme.
I can't see the barlines and text in or around tracks for the colour "noise" coming off the meters, etc.
Have you guys actually tried using this admittedly very pretty theme for editing anything yet?

color noise? not sure what you mean but it sounds like a darker theme isnt good for your eyes, for me, for editing, its perfect. The bar lines are black, i cant make them any darker but I am adding a light version as soon as I can get it done.
But for me, for editing, I have no visual issues at all, I paid careful consideration to this actually in every aspect of the theme.
Everyone's monitors are not calibrated equally also, and you may need to turn up the gamma or contrast as with any dark theme elements may blend together once a monitor is too dark.
lastly your preferences may be setup vastly different to mine and this can drastically affect how a theme looks overall.
Regardless, I skinned this for my own personal tastes, i prefer bright, vivid colors... and it will not be for everyone

Oh, MUCH better.
By colour noise I meant the bright meters at the side of the very dull track backgrounds were making it difficult for me to focus on the track content, is all.
Totally resolved with your recent amendment, although I may go in and figure out how to switch the meters in the tracks on and off later.
I have noticed a lot of folks accommodating us oldies by doing theme versions with better contrast between B/ground and F/ground, which is very helpful.
FWIW I have always had a problem with light text on a dark background, too.

Hey this is very nice of you to contribute this.
I have a question though, I need the TCP for arranging and recording, with an occasional view of the signal, but when I mix/master, I send all tracks to large 48 Track Scope DSP mixer which resides out of the box, so simple metering at that point isn't even necessay, but having track numbers for quick refernecing is necessary and I watch the MIDI/Audio cues and information in the arrange window, so the smaller the mixer the better. But I do enjoy large meters when walking around with IEMS and monitoring my DAW when mixing down,
But I used your Mini Meter, and Narrow and was able to collpase them so only the top knob and number of the track were visible and it took up the size of a large toolbar icon, it was perfect for when I am actually now monitoring the signals in Scope where the effects and actual volume is added.
When I went back to actually try this again I could not squish/minimize the narrow or Mini Meter versions...?
Was this maybe an accident or is there a layout that actually collapses that far.
It was perfect for my needs, but also after an a gig until 0330 Hours and journey home, I didn't write down every step as usual as I was tired form the gig.
Did you know this was possible, and if so which layout this might have been...?
I keep trying them all and can't seem to get the narrow/collapsed combo again, it's brilliant...

Thanks folks!
To reiterate, I haven't changed , removed, or added any layouts from the Original RADO version, whatever layouts were there, are still there, and that's it.
I have no idea how to add or remove layouts or theme elements, I merely redesigned it, graphically, according to my own personal taste.
Cheers!

Superb superb superb vStyler! Just tried and of course I prefer the Dark version (original one) and I loaded up a very heavy Multi track MProd/Mix song and wooooooooow looke amazing.
Quick question for you, the Bundled Toolbars etc..,if I already had RADO full version installed, no need to re-install the ones that comes with your bundle as they are the same right? Just curious
Will post a little screenshot soon!
Here they are :

Hmm there are 10 TCP layouts in Rado but RadoVox only has 5. The horizontal layout is missing...

You must have a different version of RADO then, im only showing 5 in the last version or RADO I downloaded..
Has there been a significant update in the past few days?
Rado Darko has 10 Tcp layouts, but I modded the original RADO

First of all: congratulations on finishing this marvellous theme!
I'm glad that I could be one of testers. RADO VOX and original RADO are now two my favorite themes for Reaper that are not only visually stunning but also very practical. Thank You - Nick and VStyler for this contribution!
You are the part of Reaper power.

Obviously, this looks fantastic. V', U da man!
However (there's always a 'however', isn't there?) when I go to
Options\Layouts\Mixer Panel\Fader - Red, I get red faders. BUT, when I choose Options\Layouts\Mixer Panel\Dual Pan(knobs) THE COLOR GOES AWAY! Choose a color again, and the pans revert to sliders.
Edit: I see now that "Dual Pan (knobs) preceded by "02.", just as "Dual Pan (sliders)" has NOTHING to do w/ it. RM

R'Mad .. the colored faders only apply to the default layout I assume.. same in original rado, they dont stay when you change to another layout.
There may be a way using actions, If you read Nicks insctructions on this page.. http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=74685&page=15 still trying to figure it out myself.
as to your second point, again , I havent changed anything, same as RADO original afaik.
Thanks everyone, glad its going over well.
