Default Theme Team Progress Report

I could talk you through what we've got going on, from the ionic volute record arm recesses to the whole 'colour language' we've concocted for icons, but I won't... heh.

You just used the term "ionic volute"—what more could we ask for?

Looking good, btw. Thanks.

This looks fantastic. Definitely avoids the retinal burn I was getting from previous Default themes. My only thought is that I wouldn't mind seeing some panning slider options, as that is my personal preference. Although I'd be happy to learn some WALTER and do it myself.

It's...

Dare I say it?

Pro.

On a more serious note...looking VERY nice. Easy on the eyes, and I can FIND everything. Nothing to stop me from getting my work done, and everything I NEED to get my work done. I like that in a theme.

All I can say is...wow.

First thoughts: "Wow that looks clean and crisp", "LOL the last row of icons" and "much appreciated contrast". It looks like it's made "for my old eyes". The vertical TCP layout is probably going to be a big success. Overall, it looks damn good and it looks very much like it works that way, too.

Seeing all these new toolbar icons, I'm wondering if you decided on a new naming standard.
In my theme, I'm using their action ID number followed by a description :
Quote:
toolbar_40078_showmixer.png
toolbar_50124_showexplorer.png
toolbar_40271_showFXbrowser.png
toolbar_40760_dynamicsplit.png
toolbar_41588_glue.png
etc...
What about this as a standard ?
See ED's thread : http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.p...188#post682188

Transport is great btw, very slick !

I was going to ask what was happening with the V4 theme a couple of hours ago but got distracted!
This latest version is great. Everything is visible and within reach.Very logically laid out.For someone new to Reaper, this theme will be very easy to navigate.
When can we have this ?!!

Looks fine... three items of criticism:

1) I do not like the ARM button indentation, makes the strip look like a boot. The ARM button placement is fine, the background shape indentation does not look good at all to me.

2) I am not sure I like multiple colors in the buttons (toolbar). Maybe I am not used to it, or do not like this color scheme, but perhaps different shades of grey/white would fit better?

3) TCP/MCP backgrounds look bright to me, I'd like that brightness for selected tracks, and noticeably darker for normal tracks.

Thanks!

I am in awe. Understated beauty and simple utility. Takes me back to art school. Steady as she goes, Captain Tie!

This is very nice! I might be in the minority, but I'd like the Selection area as in the first Transport (Standard Layout) image to be larger. I use this for reference and input a lot. Maybe this is easily WALTERize-able, though?

Thanks!

Damn! I didn't notice it until you pointed it out. Now all I see is a frickin' boot, LOL. Damn you!

PS - Looks really clean. Should improve my mixes dramatically.

Default Folder channel

You should consider a folder channel layout like it's available with the reaction theme.

Theme looks absolutely excellent, +1 to sstillwell's comments.

I like the recarm recess, it just looks nice visually and adds to the "pro" thing going on. Definitely don't find it distracting or anything in anyway, looks neat to me.

The only thing i would suggest is to swap mute and solo positions on mixer layouts.

WT this is beautiful work! I just love all of it. Every single bit!

I actually REALLY like "the boot" around the arm button. It should be easy to edit out for those that don't like it. But I LOVE it!

Should this be included in the next pre?

CANT WAIT

Very nice. Just wondering if the green "on" state background color of the icons is overly saturated? Might just be my personal color b-eye-as.

I love it!

As Scott said, it's very easy to find everything and nothing gets in the way. Great balance and contrast. The color scheme in buttons is awesome, green or red for elements that are gonna be affected and a nice green as background, that's very clever.

P.S. I love the recarm button, please don't change it!!!! I find it very easy to see when it is pushed.. seriously, wait and use it and you'll see what I mean

Absolutely looking better than previous versions! Keep up the great work!

One question though, and this may have been asked and answered before, but what is the seeming fascination with semi-transparent faders in every new Reaper default theme? I think it takes AWAY from the "pro" factor and just looks strange to me.

Anyone else agree, or am I out there alone on this one?

White Tie this is really good work!

more than worthy of "default R4 GUI" status!

new users will be more than happy to spend there time testing something that looks like that!

Bravo!

This looks great!! Awesome job to all. And please, DON'T change the "boot" around the record arm button. It doesn't bother me at all and gives the theme a unique look.

Anyway... SUPER JOB!

Loving the vertical TCPs look.

Not a fan of the Faders... But I tend to replace any themes faders with RADOs V3 faders.

<3 the work!

Classy. Definitely a huge leap forward from the early alpha-whatever theme try-outs (released after the first quite successful v4 theme).
