Default can you configure Reaper's grid/snapping to be more like Acid?

Acid had a grid in the arrange view that made it really easy to subdivide snapping, so when you zoom in, the grid lines doubled and doubled, all the way as you zoom in.

Reaper doesn't do that right out of the box, you're kind of stuck with the grid settings you configure in the menu.

Is there a way to configure the grid in Reaper to be like the grid in Acid?

Ableton Live and Logic Pro have this feature also, it's called Smart Grid.

Pretty neat and handy indeed.
So there IS something for me to wish for in Reaper LOL.

^^ that's the key to it (in the arrange view).

- Set "Show grid line spacing" to the tiniest value you'll ever want to snap to (here it's a conservative 1/32, but could be 1/1000 if you need that)
- Then set the "minimum pixels" to a value you like. It determines how far away from each other two grid lines have to be to spawn another line between them
- enable "Grid snap follows grid visibility"

That should be it, if I'm not missing something...

Too bad it's not available in the MIDI editor. The request comes up every now and then, but as of now it will always snap at the grid spacing, visible or not.

cool!

seems only to zoom to 1/128. even after changing to 1/256 or 512, no change in grid after 1/128.
